We moved to this area one year ago and I just love this grocery store. Every employee I have came into contact with at Food Fair Super Market in Mound City seem to genuinely like their job. They actually smile and speak cheerfully and are always ready and willing to help you. I have been to Walmart and seen less checkout lanes open than Food Fair has during their busy time. I do bimonthly shopping and due to my work schedule, I typically end up arriving at the checkout lane right at closing time with 2 carts of groceries. I do try to avoid this, but I have never sensed irritation from any employee there. The checkers have a good sense of humor and are always good for a little chuckle and the gentlemen who sack my groceries are just that, good old fashioned true gentlemen who are always happy to help. The prices on non sale items may be slightly higher than Walmart, but definitely not as high as Country Mart in in Garnett (CM should be ashamed of themselves; I consider what they do to their customers to be price gouging at it's finest). That being said, Food Fair does not hesitate to offer their discontinued products and products which are getting close to expiration at real clearance prices and they run pretty good ads so if you take advantage of those, you probably will end up matching Walmart pricing, plus I would much rather support a smaller store who obviously treat their employees right and value...

I asked her if her lane was open and she ignored me, so I asked a second time and she rolled her eyes and said yes. When she was scanning my items she just kept paying attention to the other cashier. She never told me my total, but since I can read, I pulled out $50 to pay her. She looked down at her paperwork and started writing in it and looked back up at the other cashier. (Who was having a long conversation with another customer.) She looked at all the people in her line now and said "aile 1 is also open people". All the whole I was holding the cash waiting. Finally she noticed and grabbed the money. She didn't even look at me when she went to hand me my change and I had to tiptoe to reach it as she just opened her hand to drop it. I had to ask her to push my bags to me, so I could reach them and she just barely shoved them, enough to make one of the products fall out, which she just left there and started ringing up the next person. I had to excuse myself to that next person in order to reach the bag of chips that fell out.
Not a pleasant...
Read moreWhen you go grocery shopping here you have to make sure you check the expiration date... I once bought something that was 5 years old. Then when the have specials and you go in to get them sometimes they tell you that "was a misprint. Or make sure you check the prices are what they say they are...on sale or not. I fo not know one person that has gone in there and been charged a different price than what was displayed. And I am not talking just once, but...
