Really enjoyed our visit to the Mt. Shasta fish hatchery. So interesting to see the different trout and ages of fish. It was a bit upsetting to see quite a few of the older fish with sunburn or birds pecks or a skin infection. But I was told that net coverings are in the process of being installed over all of the tanks to protect the fish from bird attacks. This was great to hear. Thanks for all you all do at the hatchery for the fish!

Cool place. Apparently this is the oldest operating fish hatchery west of the Mississippi. Looks like they keep trout, and they have food you can give them for free. It's cool to see so many fish all clustered together, but it's hard to get a good picture of the blackness and movement of the water.

It was my first time visiting a fish hatchery, and wow — my trypophobia really kicked in! The fish were packed so densely that it gave me the chills. Some of them were even swimming belly-up, and for a moment I thought they were dead.

Always stop by when in town to check it out & help feed the fish. Nice little museum with much area history to take in. Many years back, before all the netting & keep out areas were put up...it was truly nature's treat to sit on the benches at dusk & witness a feeding freenzy of bald eagles, golden eagles, osprey+, come from everywhere to fill the surrounding tall tree branches, each taking turns diving for dinner. Understandably why it's...

My kids & even my husband loved this stop. Quick trip right off the Freeway & free to feed the MANY fish. We have stopped on multiple trips even when we were towing a trailer. There was plenty of room to pull through their gravel lot for the grass picknick/park area next door. Although I would not suggest the park as a picknick stop it's not...
