I have been a patient at Mundelein Family Dental for a year, and until recently, I was quite satisfied with their services. The doctor and the team are all good, helped me with my dental anxiety and made me comfortable. However, my most recent experience has left me very disappointed. I went in for my routine six-month cleaning, and everything seemed to go well. Before leaving, I specifically asked if there were any charges for the visit, and I was told I was "all good."

Two weeks later, I received a surprise bill for $382, stating that my insurance did not cover the visit. When I called to clarify, I learned that the practice went out of network just two days before my appointment. At no point during my visit was this mentioned to me—not when I checked in, not during my appointment, and not even when I asked about payment before leaving.

After I contacted them about the unexpected bill and asked if they can reduce it anyway, they agreed to reduce the amount to $300. While I appreciate this gesture, the lack of transparency about the change in their network status to an existing patient and the surprise billing experience have left me feeling frustrated and misled.
