Very scenic, beautiful area to hike. 1.6 miles to falls; 1.6 back out. Trail is very well maintained in all areas except one set of steps. 168 foot elevation gain in an easy ascent. A couple spots are muddy for July but not slippery and were easily side-stepped. Falls views had a little tree blockage in the field of vision. As many reviews on various platforms have stated, bug repellent is a must, and coming early is the way to go if you want to get an actual parking spot. And, can-in-the-ground no-flush toilets are at the parking area but no other facilities are on the path. There are also no benches or seats along the way. As someone who needs to be careful with temperature and humidity, the 9am temperature today was in the mid 60s with medium humidity but I never needed my neckfan. A great way to...

Mostly my bad for not paying attention closer to the route but as soon as we got off the main road I wasn’t sure what we were in for. My CRV handled this rough terrain like a champ.. although there were many times I questioned if she’d make it with large holes on the dirt road. I saw a few smaller compact cars have to turn around as they weren’t able to make it. GPS might take you to the wrong area but there is decent signage when you land where the GPS brings you to keep going. We saw chapel falls and it was just over a 3 mile hike round trip. It was beautiful and the views of this powerful waterfall was worth it. We were on a time constraint so we did not get to see mosquito falls but it looked like it was a shorter hike. Bathrooms on site...

From Chapel basin parking lot, we took the unpaved trail through the forest towards Chapel Falls. There is a sign board. It took us 25-30 mins one way to reach to the waterfall but it was all worth it. The waterfall drops from a sandstone cliff at a height of around 55-60 feet and merges into the Chapel Lake. The view of the waterfall was impressive. There is also a second observation platform at a few feet distance with another beautiful view of the waterfall. During fall the view is absolutely gorgeous. Overall hike was moderate. There was one stage that required some uphill hike otherwise it was...

Mosquito Falls and Chapel Falls via Chapel loop in Munising, Mi. Parking lot fills up by about 9:00am. The road in is rough. Start the hike going clockwise. You will hike through the woods a few miles and then it opens up to the stunning Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. About 7 miles in you can walk down to the beach. The whole hike is 11.2 miles. Definitely bring water and a snack. Take all the little out trails to the shoreline. You are hiking near cliffs so don’t bring children.
