I recently had the pleasure of playing both courses at Myrtlewood Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The club features two distinct 18-hole layouts: Palmetto and PineHills, each offering its own unique charm.

The Palmetto Course stood out with its scenic beauty, especially the 18th hole that runs alongside the Intracoastal Waterway. The fairways were lush and forgiving, making it an enjoyable round even for mid-handicappers like myself. Water comes into play on 11 holes, adding just the right amount of challenge without being overly punitive.

On the other hand, the PineHills Course, designed by Arthur Hills, offered a more strategic game. The layout requires thoughtful shot placement, and the rolling fairways and well-placed bunkers kept me engaged throughout the round. The course was in excellent condition, with smooth greens that rolled true.

The facilities at Myrtlewood are top-notch. The clubhouse is welcoming, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I also appreciated the on-course amenities, including the well-maintained carts and convenient snack bars.

Overall, Myrtlewood Golf Club offers a delightful golfing experience with two well-maintained courses that cater to a variety of skill levels. Whether you’re looking for a scenic round along the water or a strategic challenge, Myrtlewood has something to offer. I look forward to returning on my next trip to...

First there is no water coolers on the course at all in the middle of summer. They have a ranger that is driving around with a water cooler on the back of his cart and we saw him once. Then I told him about the group in front of us that was holding up probably most of the golf course and no one was in front of them at all from what we could see. He went up there and said something to them and then when we hit our tee shots they started running there mouths at us like they wanted to do something, I walked up to the green to give the three of them the opportunity but all they wanted to do was run there mouths. So I jawed with them some, then the Marshall came back up and made them go to the clubhouse this happened on 16. Then when we were in the fairway on 18 the marshal came back and told us that he had orders to tell us to leave or they were calling the cops. When I turned my cart in the three gentleman were in the clubhouse looking out at me. So I’m not sure if they have buddies that work there or if there father is a Bruce Jenner or something like that, but I do know this. The greens are slow, there is no drinking water on the course and the tall kid with the curly hair isn’t a man. He is actually a woman with a really bad curly mullet. Don’t waste you time or money here spend 30 more and go play...

We played six courses in the Myrtle Beach area last week, and unfortunately, this club was the worst by far. They have an issue with their fleet of carts, as we were told replacement batteries are not available and a portion of the fleet is not running. This led to chaos at the cart-loading zone with groups being sent off the #1 and #10 tees for two courses. Staff desperately grabbed carts from players finishing from the morning to keep the tee time schedule.

We were only about 10-15 minutes late teeing off, but the delays had only just begun. The round took a full 5-1/2 hours to play, with delays on every hole. Our tee time was 2:02, and we finished in poor visibility after the sun went down.

One of our carts began running in a halting manner around the 9th hole, and we felt fortunate that it limped through the back nine.

The greens were in very good condition, but the fairways and rough were not nearly in the same shape as other courses in the area.

Our round came with a lunch, which we consume prior to our round. All the meals are pre-cooked food (BBQ or meatball sandwiches), but they came out of the kitchen one at time. It was a full 20 minutes before the last sandwich arrived. The delay was baffling, as they were not very busy.

I'm afraid we have crossed this club off our list for...

I play this both courses regularly and while I am a fan of the design of both, the price to play either course is WELL beyond the value. Patchy, extremely slow, and full of irregularities. They also struggle to cut holes in such a way that is flat and doesn't steer putts away from the hole; kind of ridiculous. While upper management did do the right thing in previous months in lowering prices to accommodate the lack of playability, they recently put on a bold face and returned to normal pricing without any real improvement, especially with the greens. Rather than being fair to the customer their now in the business of scamming tourists and locals alike with a course that has certainly seen better days. Again, huge fan of Myrtlewood but the prices are shameful considering the conditions.

Updated from last time posted...been there a few times now 5 to be exact in the last year...... feel this place is not really worth the price they are charging compared to other courses we have been at for less money..i think my crew are done with this place time to move on... you can golf at Arrowhead for less than this place and its 10 times better of a course.. lush over seeded fairways everything is lush and green not hard brown grass off the fairways ... .....see above .One of myrtle beaches best courses I feel. Beautiful design and lots of water, well kept course. You can tell the owner takes pride in this place. Great staff as well right down to the Volunteer Starters.

We played the Palmetto course in Jan. 2023 and have to say how impressed we were with this course. The clubhouse staff were welcoming and got us out on our reservation quickly. Before our round we hit up the driving range and loved the condition of the boxes. Putting green was well maintained too. It was colder but the course was pretty busy, however our pace of place was timely and we were never waiting on the next hole for more than 5 minutes. Beautiful views, tough hole placements, makes you play this course smart. We’ll be back here to play much more. You’ll enjoy this one and what it has to offer.
