This is a long one, so I'm sorry in advance.
I traveled with my Mother to South Carolina this week. We left San Antonio on Wednesday afternoon around 3pm and drove the full 1300 miles in one go. It took about 22 hours, and we arrived in SC around 1pm Thursday at the local community hospital.
My grandmother is dying. I wanted to get my mother to her mother's side before she left us, and we were successful in that venture.
My grandmother has always had a love of music. It's actually my understanding that she continued to play in her church band all the way up until she needed to be hospitalized at the start of this last week.
I decided I wanted to bring a guitar with me, so that I could make some pretty sounds for her while she rested, something to help cover all the hissing and beeping of the medical equipment keeping her stable. She seemed to enjoy it and it was comforting to me as well.
I started to learn a song my Mother wanted to have played at Grandma's funeral and quickly realized that in order to play it, my guitar would need to be adjusted and intonated and I was just not equipped/skilled enough to correct the issue on my own.
Enter, these two beautiful souls. Meet Joey and Kelly. They own and operate Sound Systems Inc here in Myrtle Beach, SC and Kelly answered my call about needing help intonating my guitar. I explained to her what was going on and that I needed the work completed as quickly as possible and I was willing to pay a premium for a fast turn around on quality work.
They took my guitar yesterday, 10 minutes before they closed for the day and told me to come back at noon the following day. Not only did they have my guitar adjusted and ready for me by noon exactly as promised. But they ran through everything that had been done and allowed me an opportunity to play it and request further adjustments. The work they did was amazing, the guitar plays and sounds like a dream! It was such an amazing experience. They extended their love to my family as we grieve and made sure I had what I needed to get through the things that come next. Oh and they only charged me their standard rate for the work, even though an upcharge for the rush of it all would have been justified.
I cannot truly express what the kindness these two people showed me meant. If you ever find yourself within reach of their store and you need gear or maintenance I could not possibly shout it from the rooftops any louder: This is the place to go. Not only are they amazing people but their staff was also exceedingly kind and personable. They all tried so hard to make this store feel like a small source of comfort during a difficult time.
Also for my music friends that prefer to buy from local stores over large chains, they ship basically...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually donāt post reviews but I was so blown away by so many great aspects of Sound Systems Inc in Myrtle Beach I wanted to share with everyone. For starters the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful than they were to me. I felt like a regular customer and I had never been there before. I brought an acoustic guitar in to have the action improved and I knew it would probably need the bridge adjusted. They did such an amazing job on my Seagull acoustic it played better than it ever has and their price was amazingly inexpensive for what they did . I couldnāt be happier. I have now found my go to guitar shop. While I was there they also have a great deal on a speaker stand so doubly happy .dont hesitate to take your guitar there I am an old timer and have many guitars and this is the best service Iāve ever...
