We are fortunate to have Dr. Tem as my daughter's piano tutor. She looks forward to her lessons with him every week. We started about four months ago without knowing how it would go. I made my mind up that we will stick with lessons unless my daughter does not want it. She was getting only one session per week, and she was not doing that much with her piano home other than banging it. We were coming to lesson every week without practice, and I wondered if we were wasting time! Like many of her peers do, she ran around in the middle of her class from time to time. Meanwhile, Dr. Tem patiently keeps her five-year-old mind from wandering and keeps her engaged and curious to learn. He noticed that her seat at home was low; I purchased an adjustable seat instead of the one that came with the piano. Then, about a month ago, she started to practice at home, just by herself! Dr. Tem is amazing! We have been taking lessons for 5 months and our entire experience has far surpassed anything I could have imagined. Dr. Tem really focuses on creating a healthy relationship and love of music, which my daughter has totally taken to. My daughter gets 30 minutes with Dr. Tem weekly but they are the best of friends and she as well as I cherish her time with him. She has progressed in the short time that she has been there and we have been amazed with her improvement and eagerness to learn and practice. We do the in home lessons at his home and his set up is wonderful. He and his wife have the spirit of our home if your home and they mean every bit of that. I have two other littles that I take with me to our lesson and he is not put out by that at all. He very much welcomes our entire family. He is the BEST!!! As a 74yr old beginning piano study, I had some pause and trepidation accompanying the desire to play the piano. Dr. Tem's encouragement and understanding of my abilities quickly overcame my hesitancy. Dr. Tem not only "teaches" the piano he draws out the artistry and soul of both the instrument and the composer; but, more importantly, makes us aware of the music and song we have inside us. This is done within the context of musical excellence and achievement. I make many mistakes in playing. Dr Tem kindly shows me why and how these mistakes are being made so that I can correct them.
