Great concept poor execution. We stayed at the Border House room 11, suite on the third floor. The room was very dark and there were lights out. It needs finishing touches with some updates to make this room worth what they are asking for it. PROS: Quiet room, large space, outside garden area, clean comfy bed, large TV, working fireplace, large tile bathroom with steam shower, robes provided, a lot of little amenities, mini fridge with water, keurig coffee, free parking and staff were helpful. CONS: Hall light was not working, whole place was very dark, shade on window broken, shower door handle coming off, steam controls falling off wall, shower temp adjustment missing handle, toilet handle broken, handles missing on drawers, no phone in the room, TV in bathroom doesn't work, coffee machine was dirty, towels were rough, everything was out dated including the bathroom, carpet and furniture. Check in was inconvenient, you had to go to the casino floor to do so. Only reason I gave it three stars is that we got a discount booking on Travelocity vs the full price, but still feel for what we paid it was over priced.

For a place being run by a casino, I was a little wary, but thankfully it is both smoke and pet free. The beds are decent, comfortable, and clean. The reason they lost a star is their entrance to the second floor door has a big step up to the actual building but it’s not marked and quite easy to trip over. Also, the bathroom area, while nice, with a big jacuzzi bath and beautiful views, is separated by a simple curtain, that’s it! And the toilet area has no separate privacy, you have to use the curtain in the main bathroom entrance and hope nobody barges in! That was definitely weird for me. Could have added a simple curtain or sliding door for the toilet area. The location is close to Kings Beach and right across the street from the free shuttle service. All in all not a bad stay.

Overall a great experience, so I gave it 5 stars. Nice robes, towels, comfy beds, friendly staff. As a fellow business owner I would suggest three things. 1 Add sliding barndoors to the rooms instead of the curtain between the bedroom and bathroom. 2. Mark the light switches 3. Change the highend steakhouse to barfood and breakfast to match the casino and music venue. Food was amazing, but expensive.

I thought I had done my homework and this place was a "boutique" hotel. Plus, I used to work at the Crystal Bay Club as a blackjack dealer (many decades ago!!!) and was excited to check it out.||||Good news: robes, towels, shampoos, hair dryer, coffee maker, TV and fireplace. But here's the bad news in four parts: 1) couldn't find the front door to check in using google maps; after driving around we found a little sign on one door said to go inside the casino and check-in 2) Then our room keys wouldn't work to let us in from the outside, necessitating another trip to the casino to have them re-keyed (we weren't the only ones this happened to as people were cued up on our return). 3) We finally get into our room and it's really hot, the thermostat said 80 degrees and it wouldn't "unlock" to change the temperature. Had to find a phone number (to the casino) where the guy who checked me in said he would send over maintenance. Which he did and we left for dinner as the maintenance man said he had to get codes to unlock it. We came back after dinner and though the temperature was now set at 70, you still couldn't adjust it and the AC kept coming on to try and cool it down. Still hot all night! 4) And who the hell are all the people going in and out of the back door by our room all night and morning? A party of people came in at 2:00 a.m. but there were individuals coming and going every 15-30 minutes. Impossible to sleep.||||Lastly, this is not an inexpensive hotel. Yet there was no door from the bedroom to the bathroom (there was a curtain, so cheesy) and the sink cabinet was a facade with fake drawers. I say find another hotel either in Kings Beach or...
