Our tub to shower conversion has been in for about three months now and I am very happy with results. I love the products. I was very satisfied with how the install went. I love how it looks and functions. I love the warranty. The gentleman who did the install (Tim Topper) took his time to answer any questions I had. He was very meticulous in his work and took pride in what he was doing. He asked me for input on where I would like shelves, height of shower head and seat. He was neat; putting down floor protection. He cleaned up after he was finished. Tim is genuinely a kind man very conscientious of the fact that the job was disrupting a household for a couple of days. He did all he could to make it easier for us. I would recommend him highly. For these reasons I would have given Mad City Bath (MCB) 5 stars. Without the above I would have given them 1 star. I had talked to several companies prior and had a good idea on the same day panel installs vs the tiling process. I was aware of pricing and what materials, colors and styles were out there. When talking to the initial MCB salesperson I knew I wanted to hire them because of the product, warranty, 1-2 day install were just what I wanted. I had to decide that day or the price would go up. This was something I’d heard before from other companies I’d talked to. It didn’t matter because I was ready to sign that day. Before we settled on a final price the price gouging occurred. I brought up discounts (senior, veterans, paying cash) to bring the price down. It came down $13,000 from their original quote. When I declined the final offer, I was asked how much I was willing to pay. I gave them my price and I got the “let me talk to my manager” on a phone call taken outside. I was basically told lucky me, they met my price. The next process of time to install etc. went well. I had changed my mind on what I wanted the ceiling of the shower to look like. It was an easy process to change the order. The two-day install was painless. Then I was asked to fill out an email survey. If I mentioned Tim, he would receive a $100. bonus. I really wanted him to have it. He deserved it. So, rated the subjects on a scale of 1-5 providing comments when asked. I wrote basically this same review. I got a phone call from a manager at MCB. He asked me If I could redo the survey and keep the great install with Tim and the rest of my complaints separate that way he would get his bonus. I said sure, I could do that, but they sent me the very same survey. With the questions as they were, there was nothing I could do different. I would have had to change the ratings I gave to process a completed survey so Tim would get his bonus. I had Tim’s phone number and called him. I wanted him to know that I tried. I told him there was nothing I could do different with the same survey as it was. He was understanding and told me not to worry. I received another email asking me to redo it again. I unsubscribed. I received another phone call which I picked up and told them to stop bothering me. You may ask why I continued with them. I am not sorry. I did my homework thoroughly and am satisfied with the end product. I have a great warranty and I got the price I wanted I...
Read moreFeb 13 2024. Oh look 2 months after door installation that still looks like trash, I'm needing service because my screen door keeps falling off track. The tech was out here today and the issue is still there. 7th visit to my house. Will need an 8th now because the technician failed to check full functionality of the door.
Update 4: NOT A 4.3 STAR WORTHY COMPANY. AFTER 5 separate times they came out to fix or replace the door, the doors finally in a somewhat good quality finish. There is still dirt, debris outside and inside the house. Trim has gaps in it and caulking looks abysmal but I've given up on their work and don't expect much "quality" work from them. Ill fix all their mistakes when its warmer out. Seems they follow shady business practices of lies. They offered a 10% discount with warranty or a 15% discount and we lose our warranty. overall, salesman was shady liar. installers/service were lousy. hopefully never need their warranty. all in all. do not recommend this company as they're way overpriced, and solely base their "life time warranty" on why its so expensive because the quality all around is piss poor. guess good warranty makes up for garbage craftsmanship in 2023.
Josh salesman, Milwaukee market. Will lie through his teeth and promise the world to you then refuse to leave your house until he sells you something. do your shopping.
Update 3: they need to return AGAIN fix exterior trim that's wavy, a broken door roller and a screw hole they put in the frame. Not looking good at this point.
Update: Dan come out and saw the state of the door, discovered door is not square from factory. Stated they will be ordering a new frame which takes another 4-6 weeks, after we waited 4-6 for this one to come in. Is what it is. Stated correct trim, and rotted wood would be replaced. Review will stay as a 1 star up until the door is 100% and fixed.
I'll update this at a later Time depending how they handle it. For now,
Had a new sliding glass door installed. Installers did great, however craftsmanship of the door is god awful. Salesman lied through his teeth about stuff which the office was willing to fix and remedy. The door it's self, all unlevel, cracks on the edges to allow moisture in, sliding screen BARLEY closes unless you slam it shut. The edges of the plastic aren't level. The interior trim came as completely wrong color and style, outside trim is completely wrong color, didn't replace the rotted piece of wood that was on the bottom just covered it up, didn't fix the other piece of rotted wood on the side of the door. Left metal shavings on the ground, left trash on the ground. Install couldn't even be finished because trim was wrong. Scratches that scratched into the metal of the door. Pathetic. Pay all this money for something that a blind man can...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to hire Mad City to replace our bathtub, mostly because the companies we got quotes from were peddling the same products and Mad City got us closest to what we wanted to pay. During the negotiations the sale person told us that they would fix our window (a block-style window with a crank that didn't open... Like it was fused shut) and would replace our floorboards if they found mold - Which was a concern because our old tub, a cast iron from when the house was built, leaked into the basement every time someone took a shower. Great! We have small children so we chose a bigger tub and a handheld attachment for bathtime (SO HAPPY WE ADDED THAT ON). Install was scheduled for 10-12 weeks.
Upon review of our contract (at about the 6 week mark) we noticed the floorboard replacement and window fixing weren't included in the contract, as we discussed with our sales person. I reached out to him and he stated they would fix it, even though it wasn't in the contract, and wouldn't create any addendum for me (uhm, yeah right). Once I began asking questions they put a rush on our order... And install was scheduled at 8 weeks.
Install went fine. Two days, 8am-6pm was long though. When the manager dropped by to check progress I spoke with him about the floorboards and the window and he told me (seemingly flustered) that sales say they can do stuff all the time to customers without actually talking to the building team to see if they can do it. They didn't touch the window, but the manager gave me recommendations on what we can try to get it open and replace the crank on the window (my husband did manage to get it open later that night). The manager was so kind and was very helpful. The floor, luckily, was in good condition still so the boards didn't need to be replaced. We chose a tub that was 4" wider than the tub we were replacing, but when we saw it, it was really more like 1" more of tub and 3" of ledge were added... Which surprised us and kind of bummed us out.
End result was beautiful. Our new bath doesn't leak into the basement and is visually exactly what I wanted. The one-man team who did it all from start to finish was professional, kind, and answered all of my questions. We have had our new bathtub for a few months now and the size is good for baths at any age, and the handled attachment is a real game changer for bathtime!
So really, lost a star for the dishonsty of the sales team member. A word to potential customers - Make sure everything agreed upon is written into...
