Way WAY cooler than the place down the street. The first impression when you get in the door (beside having a friendly conversation with the guy in the security nook. And it wasn't just "friendly" it was real. Nice.), is that you're not in the den of some Bond villain, like the other place. This place has heart. Granted, nostalgia may play a part because, in the 1950's, my father occasionally took us here, in this very building, for pizza which, in retrospect, wasn't just for pizza. (It was more of a bar than a pizza place) Hmm... Nefarious doings, now that I think of it. A denizen of longshoremen, it was. But it was good pie. And it was nice to see this building still survives. Anyway, I digress...
This is as much a social center as anything else. Warm and friendly, with really nice people. Karaoke night? It's tempting (I was a professional musician back in the day.) but who does this? The Community!!! That's who! And this place is alive with it! I've been waiting for this very day since Christmas of 1969; to walk into a neighborhood business and legally indulge in the greatest gift that nature has bestowed upon us, with truly nice people who grew up locally. Just so nice. I'm just surprised they didn't have a pot of coffee going, but they just opened, so... Anyway...
Product? It doesn't really matter to me. The choices seem endless and kinda confusing, but I'm a cheap high (always have been), plus being old, and as one who once thought 40 dollars for an ounce of "Acapulco Gold" was nuts!... Now, I just kinda look at it like... I spent this much, I got this high... Okay. Seems reasonable. I'm happy. I'm easy. Anyway, I look forward to visiting with these folks again. I even bought short so I'd have to come back sooner. Who would make me want to do that? COMMUNITY!!! THAT'S WHO!...
Read moreVisiting LIT was truly an experience! It is the most beautifully crafted dispensaries I’ve ever seen. Whereas other dispensaries are cold and sterile, LIT is bright, inviting and a vibe! It is the FIRST and ONLY Black Woman Owned dispensary and is owned and operated by a New Haven Woman! No other dispensary in New Haven can claim its owned by a New Haven resident. The owner, Kebra Smith-Bolden also goes out of her way to hire New Haven residents impacted by the unjust War on Drugs.
As if that’s not enough, the products are extremely high quality offering and expansive menu with everything from flower to tincture. Kebra has trained her staff well to be able to help you pick your fancy. Her staff are all happy and provide some of the greatest customer service I’ve experienced in a dispensary!
I’d HIGHLY recommend making LIT New Haven your go to for all of your dispensary...
Read moreLit New Haven is exactly what the city needed! From the moment you walk in, you can feel the love, culture, and purpose behind this dispensary. It’s clean, professional, and welcoming—but still got that vibe. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and they really take time to make sure you understand what you’re getting. You can tell they care about community, quality, and education—not just sales. I love that it’s Black woman-owned and committed to creating opportunities for people who’ve been impacted by the war on drugs. New Haven, we up! This place is LIT...
