Playing hockey on the ice at New Hope Ice Rink North was a miserable experience. The artificial ice was poorly maintained, with countless bumps and divots that made skating feel like navigating a minefield. It's ironic that playing on outdoor pond hockey ice would have been a smoother and more enjoyable experience. Adding insult to injury, after enduring the terrible ice at New Hope Ice Rink North, my skate blades, despite being freshly sharpened, were utterly destroyed. It's outrageous that I now need to get them sharpened again after just one skate session, especially considering I have the durable black steel blades that are supposed to last far longer. This rink's negligence towards maintenance not only ruins the skating experience but also costs players time and money on blade upkeep. Absolutely unacceptable.    Read moreAs a player, this rink is great. It's not confusing or difficult to get to the locker rooms, and the ice is usually well maintained. The locker rooms, however, are a bit cramped for a full team. As a spectator, the layout of both sides is great they both have large stands. The south rink has a cat walk that spans around the rink and connects back to the conncesion area. The area around the conncesions offers a great view of the ice with large windows. The staff are great and I always get great service. For parking, I've never had an issue. There is usually an open spot, and I have never gotten keyed or broken into. Overall, it's a great rink. And fun fact the movie "The Mighty Ducks" was filmed on...
Read moreThe Parks and Rec staff at the New Hope Ice Area is top-notch!! They have wonderful customer service, especially Penny Spitzer (administrative specialist). She was extremely helpful in helping my family sign up for pre-registration open skate time, and she even called me back twice to follow up with me. You don't get this level of service with other city departments (much less department stores). She is a happy, positive and attentive professional. This is the reason my family will continue to come back to this ice area....
