Really enjoyed the games, they have 4-5 pinball machines, and lots of arcade cabinets that they periodically rotate in and out. Have been four times now, across two different days nearly a month apart, and they changed out at least 10 cabinets that I could recall.
So far, I've always seen Cruisin' USA & World, Hydro Thunder, Pac-Man, DDR, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Tron, several shooter games, several side scrolling space shooters, a handful of fighting games, and many more
They also have a console room, and it looks like they change out some of the games there too. They have a second Xbox 360 dedicated to Rock Band, and then many other consoles.
I have fond memories of playing Cruisin' USA, Hydro Thunder, Gauntlet Dark Legacy, and DDR, so it was great getting to play those again there.
Nearly all the games are set in all the time Free to Play, my last visit I saw one new cabinet that was $1 to play, but it was a newer VR thing. They sell used and new equipment in the front half of the store, and the back half is dedicated to playing games. Currently, they have two play options: a $10 one day, all day arm band pass; and $40 for a 30 day, all day pass card.
Children would really probably need to at least be able to read to enjoy many of the games unless familiar with them. I don't recall seeing any stools, so height requirements to see the screen and reach the controls may also be a factor. Free to play games lowers the barrier for entry, but you wouldn't want to bring lots of young children here at once. Preteens and up would probably be best.
They do apparently rent out the console room for parties and events, so that would be good for larger groups, even of younger crowds.
Both days I've been there have been a small number of cabinets with out of order signs, but they weren't the same ones, and there were far fewer of them the second day. I'm hoping to be able to get the 30 day pass after the holidays and spend a lot...
Read moreWe went for the first time yesturday and my 6 year old looooves this place❤👼. We went there twice yesturday and spent more than 2 hours there each time. It's a great social environment and we met some new awesome friendly people. Me and my son even sat down and played a board game. I love how we can come and go and our admission is still valid for the whole day. I am signining my son up for a month of arcade play today. $40 for one month is too good to be true but it is!!. My car is not working because of an accident me and my son had on the way to his school friday and we have to walk now and when we were on a saturday stroll yesturday we came across this place. I am so thanful because we dont have a car that works to take us to tuethe park(his favorite place😩)anymore and i was so worried that my son would be stuck at home with nothing to do so this was a blessing to find and not a far walk at all. Love this place!❤👼😊. Me and my son max thank you rocket city arcade😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤. Oh ya and i love the free...
Read moreWas excited to try this place out, but then I saw the "no mask no problem" sign. Turned around immediately. Unfortunate. If I didn't see the sign I wouldn't have thought anything of it, but promoting the pandemic just isn't for me. Perhaps if you take the sign down you could get more customers.
Edit: The owner claims his policy is no different from any other store, that places like Walmart, Lowe's, or any place else's is 'no mask, no problem'. This isn't true. There's a mandate state-wide. If there are people not enforcing the rule in places like Walmart, that's the employee not doing his job. This is a non-essential store, with a large amount of germ circulation due to the nature of an arcade. It's sad when an owner of a store can't follow simple instruction to help keep people safe. If you're so 'damned' either way, then why not opt for the option where you promote safety? Seems to me like this place is owned by an anti-masker in hiding.
I suggest...
