Pittsburgh Ice Arena — Local services in New Kensington

Nice ice skating rink where the price is right. My GF and I go for public skate which is usually an hour or hour and a half where the public can come skate on a rink between games and practices. The best part is ice skating is included in the price and it's 5 dollars on a weekday and 7 on the weekends.

The place offers a small snack bar with hotdogs, pretzels, and other yummy junk food perfect for warming you up after being on the ice.

The rink provides music to play while you skate. The music is all kids bops covers so it's extremely family friendly.

My only gripe is the lack of freshing the ice before free skate. When my gf and I went the first time, they didn't go over the ice with the Zamboni and the ice was all marked and chipped from hockey practice which caused my girlfriend to fall hard when she caught a large crack in the ice.

Decent rink. The facility has two ice surfaces, "Black" and "Gold. The seating is adequate for watching our grandson play with his teams (comparable to most rinks). They have live video feeds of the games in the snack bar area and these are also broadcast live via Livebarn. It's a nice convenience when you can't attend in person. Parking is limited and there's nowhere nearby to handle the overflow. Usually not a terrible problem since its a lower activity local rink. It could have better lighting in the snack bar area (but again it's ok, just not great) and I'd note finally that all ice rinks are cold but this is moreso than others I've been too. We took the boys there on Saturday afternoon for the public skates and nobody was at the customer service desk out front so we talked to the people in the hockey shop there and was told that maybe they were cutting the ice to just go back and wait at the desk somebody should be there shortly. We stood there for roughly 1 hour and finally gave up and left. My advice to you would be don't bother going there and make a trip to boyce parks outdoor ice skating rink instead. I have nothing good to say about this indoor ice rink at all if I could have put 0 stars instead of one...
