I've lived in this county my entire life. And I urge you, DO NOT expect any sort of positive customer service or likely any sort of service at all.
Every time I have gone to the East or West marina this summer, I left feeling disrespected and generally not leaving with what I had gone for in the first place.
Once we rented two tandem kayaks. When we got the the boat dock, they told us they don't even own two tandem kayaks! So we went back to the office where we paid and were told we couldn't rent single kayaks because it was too late and we wouldn't be able to return the kayaks by 4:30 (they close at 5:00).
Today, after checking the division of watercraft' website for which location did kayak registration (we bought our own after they were extremely rude to us the other two times we rented them) we went to the location listed (again, the Ohio DNR division of watercraft) and they looked at us like we were crazy and told us that the West Marina did the registration. I called at 3:15 and they told that yes, they did the registration.
When we got there, we were told we would not be able to do it today because the person who does the registration left at 3:30. So it was apparent that they weren't interested in helping in the first place or they would have been sure to tell us that we only had 15 minutes.
The manager then repeatedly interrupted me when I explained why I was angry and it wasn't until I asked her 3 times to stop talking over me that she allowed me to speak (as if I should need to ask for permission to speak in the first place).
If you can avoid it, spend your money elsewhere. At least they'll appreciate you as a fellow human being unlike the woman i encountered, Chris Valot, that isnt interested in helping her staff or her staff.
UPDATE: after a family member attempted to have their kayak registered, Brian Valot then told my mother that it couldn't be done at the marina, only the BMV. So, in hopes of them making it right, as they said in their comment, and instead Brian argued with me over the Google review I left and claimed that I was actually the one in the wrong. Continual horrible...
Read moreWe rent the 20-person pontoon every year to celebrate my husband's birthday. We did experience some "shrinkflation" this year: there was a steep price increase and the time onboard decreased. The earliest we could board was 9:45am versus 9:00 am in previous years. We would love the option of boarding as early as possible and returning it as late as possible as we definitely prefer to make it an all-day celebration. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars. Despite these factors, we still rented it and was not disappointed.
One downside was having to cancel our original reservation 48 HOURS in advance. That is a hard decision to make that far in advance because the weather forecast changes so much in Ohio, plus we had several family members coming in from out of town and cancelling meant a change in many plans. However, the pontoon was available for our rescheduled date and the weather was absolutely perfect!
The online reservation process was easy and so was securing it once we arrived at the marina. We had 11 people on the pontoon and that left PLENTY of room for everyone's coolers and chairs and plenty of space to spread out. We were pleasantly surprised to find that it only cost $20 to fill the gas tank up upon return. I must say that every single staff member we came into contact with was professional yet very friendly and fun. They truly seemed to care if we had enjoyed our day. We are already looking forward to celebrating next year!

Read moreOverall we enjoyed the pontoon boat. We rented a fishing one the first time July of this year. The fishing seats were hard to turn and when you lifted up the seats that were cushioned in between they were filthy . They claim to inspect the boats and clean them with the seats being filthy, I'd say not They second time we rented a 12 person pontoon boat with expectations to fish and swim at the area with the floats by the camping area. They pointed out all the areas on the map yet neglected to mention the swimming area by the camping area cost extra. For what you pay to rent the boat we think it should be included.. as well as we didn't get to depart the dock until 45 after our departure time due to the boat they assigned us has a rusted broken anchor, again they claim they inspect and clean the boat. They tagged on an extra 45 mins for our arrival time however we were not able to stay that long and arrived 30 mins early to the dock.. .. Overall nice people, need work on their communication skills and maintaining the boats properly. . With that all said, if I had to choose between tape and salt fork. I'd pick salt fork Everytime . That lake is at least twice the...
