Flying J Travel Center — Local services in New Whiteland

My truck stop choice is Pilot/Flying J. I started trucking just over three years ago. And I’d still like to call this my choice when stopping. But, it’s getting harder to do laundry, shower, or even park, sometimes. I see most stores have, or are, remodeling. And that’s great. The thing is, most of the stores don’t clean anymore. Most bathrooms still have stains on toilet seats, and most, have stopped providing the toilet seat protectors. The top side may look clean, but the underside is filthy. Showers are dirty. Myself and others, have asked for a different shower, or to clean it. Just last night, in Whiteland, IN, that’s the actual name. #656, a guest opened his shower door, and turned around to let staff know the shower was dirty. the lady was trying to tell him it had been cleaned. The customer wasn’t haven’t it, he didn’t argue, was quite about it. she was saying they didn’t have another available, so he left. I then heard her telling another employee what happened. Then said “I don’t know what he wants me to do, I’m not cleaning it”she didn’t say again. This is happening more and more. Post “Covid”. Some stores don’t clean the coffee steam, the thing you see the coffee level. And some parking lots are not maintained. I know trucks can be dirty. But most do walk over to the trash. I see the fuel island at most locations, get hosed down. But never the parking area. I know it’s alot to maintain these things, but, there is a ton of money flowing through these travel centers. It’s Sunday afternoon, October 8. I had to layover because my company doesn’t have me a load yet at this truckstop I went inside and grab a couple items I noticed the lady at the counter in the young man were both watching me as I moved around the store, then, when I got to the counter, I was standing back and the lady I found I found her found out her name was Claudia she say something I didn’t hear. I happen to look up and she was saying I’m open in a nasty way I went over she didn’t greet me at all. She just had this read look on her face and like she was mad didn’t wanna serve me I am a black man and it is racism displayed all over her face. My company spends millions of dollars with flying J pilot, I have sent a message to them letting him know I would not come to this truckstop again she was very nasty with me. Her attitude was displayed as unprofessional and she looked at the scene very racist like she didn’t wanna deal with me she didn’t want to touch my hand. She was real nice and she didn’t give me a receipt. I had to come back in the store and get a receipt . I went back in the store and ask one of the workers her name and they said she was the manager I could not believe that there’s no way a person that’s a manager would act the way she was acting towards me.. it is time out for all these racist people working in a public place. I am very very dissatisfied with this flying J pilot here I will never stop again and I’m going to put this on my website my Facebook page and everywhere I go. Let him know how nasty this lady is...

I would give Flying J Travel Center 5 stars. It is a great place to stop for gas, food, and a break from the road. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the facilities are clean and well-maintained.
