This is my first time going West of Flatbush since they have finished the reconstruction a couple of yrs ago. I can't even express how much better it is now than the drama of what it was! I always did the loop on bike from 878 to boardwalk to Rockaway Beach Blvd. to Rissi Beach over bridge to Flatbush to Belt Pkwy to Howard Beach and back to Far Rockaway. Now, I might add Coney Island to it as well?

A beautiful bridge, and a nice, wide pedestrian path going across it. You can park about a half mile west, in the Plumb Beach parking lot off the eastbound Belt Parkway. A nice walk, on a nice, wide path, and a beautiful view from the bridge. Looking south there are boats going by, and looking north you can easily see the Manhattan skyline.

They're still working on the bridge, almost finished with the pedestrian/bicycle section. It's much better than the old drawbridge that often got stuck in the "up" position. If you're running or biking over the bridge, it's pretty steep fyi. You get great views of the waterfront and even...
