went to the Food Lion at 401 New London Rd in Newark, DE. The cashier asked me if it was oK to put my chicken breasts in a bag with other items at bagging, I said fine. I loaded items from my cart into my car, then unloaded at my home. The chicken breasts and a bag of onions were missing. I called the store and they confirmed that they were there. They said I could come get them, I said they were 20 minutes away (40 minutes round trip) and I could not. I asked for a refund and they said they could not issue them over the phone. They repeated that I could come in and I repeated that I would not be in that area for at least 2 weeks. I said that I was not going to pay for goods that I did not receive due to cashier error (he forgot to put them where I was loading into the cart, e.g. they stayed near him by his side not in the place where he was putting bags I was loading in my cart) and that I would dispute the charges for these goods with my credit card company and also write a poor online review if this was not fixed as I also did not have time to jump through endless hoops for a company caused error.
They transferred me to the night manager who basically made me repeat everything again and give me the same apologies except in a more condescending tone. When I related that I did not have time to come by the store, he said "but you had time to come in today" as if I was lying/exaggerating about this limitation. I did NOT appreciate this and told him that I was there today as I had to drive my sick dog to an urgent care vet and the vet said to feed the dog boiled chicken breasts. The store is not in my regular rotation of places I go. I did NOT appreciate being spoken to in this way as if I was lying in saying I could NOT drop everything and drive 40+ minutes and pay for gas to fix something that was NOT MY MISTAKE.
I told this individual that I would be including his name in this complaint because that remark crossed a line. It is NOT his or anyone else's place to tell me that I am lying about what I have time for in my day. I have time to type this now because it is ONLINE and that is how business is done nowadays. I do NOT have time to leave my home and my young child who has a disability at the drop of a hat because someone else makes an error. My time is NOT disposable and FL's customers NEED to be treated better than this. I will be disputing the charge with the CC company as I have no practical way not to pay for goods that I did not receive otherwise, and also never visiting this...
Read moreGreat store. Great selection. Very helpful staff, for the most part. Only two complaints. A minor one being that the Bosco syrup isn’t at this location like other Food Lions but the chocolate syrup is all Hershey’s. My major complaint is that they were using some strange contraption (I assume to polish the floor) that is at least as loud as a lawn mower. My older brother was with me and has sensitive hearing and his poor soul had to deal with them pushing that thing down the nearby aisles. They pushed it down the same aisles multiple times for no reason and gave us glares. He had to plug his ears an insurmountable amount of times. The people doing it were exceptionally rude with it by shooting unwarranted glares at not just us but other customers. Using that thing at the time was incredibly unnecessary. Something that noisy and disrespectful should only be done at least an hour before closing. It’s not only harmful to people with sensitive ears, but also dangerous to people who are blind...
Read moreSo when I went there today, I usually don’t complain because everybody is so nice, but it was upsetting to me for this woman to sit there and talk to me in a upset voice when I asked where something was and I don’t know if she’s a supervisor and the other workers in there was talking but very quiet with her like they was talking about me and laughing one thing with me. I spent a lot of money in the store without me or anybody you would not be working there. And I work for the government and I work as customer service person and I deal with veterans that have no legs no feet no ears burnt in cars suicidal alcoholics and if I yell or talk to somebody like that, I would’ve been fired at my job the first day or the day that I did that .I will report this to corporate because that’s crazy. I don’t care how busy you are. You picked to Work here just like I picked to work at a veterans hospital because I...
