My son and I are avid rockhounders and were really excited to stop at this shop on our way back from the coast. My first indication of something being off was a number of signs on the front of the store stating "this store protected by the 2nd amendment". While I won't question someone's belief in our constitutional amendments, I do question the judgement of business owner who actively forces their opinion on perspective customers. Upon entering the store I noticed an older woman behind the counter with a mask on and a younger man with no mask on. Shortly after entering the store two children entered, followed by a female adult, also not wearing masks. Based on their discussions with the man behind the counter I'm assuming they were of the same family and possibly the owners. Having just recovered from a battle with the virus myself, we quickly left the store without spending a dime. On a day when Oregon posted it's highest number of new Covid infections and deaths, I found this especially disconcerting. Oh well, maybe it was just a horrible oversight. Once I was home I started reading the reviews on both Yelp and Google and was truly shocked to find that this actually fits a pattern of behavior. Going back many months and, in some cases years, this business has shown a pattern of disregard for its customers, including one review on Yelp stating that the store actually banned customers from wearing masks in the store back in June. Please read some of the owners response to the poor reviews on Google to get an idea. Why not just post a Confederate and Trump flag out front and get it over with. You are entitled to your opinion, but running a successful business involves giving customers a reason for them to give you their business, not an excuse not to. I will never stop and this business again and I urge you not to, as well. There are many other rock shops in the area that care about your family's health and safety and will gladly...
Read moreWas really excited to stop here on my way to McMinnville but after seeing the "no masks allowed" signs I decided to drive away. I live with my grandma and am not willing to risk it, plus it just seems tacky and unprofessional. Then after reading reviews turns out I'm not the only one. Listen to your customers and take the signs down. You claim it's because of theft, I'm not sure thats true considering you have other right wing political signs on your door. I've been to other high theft businesses such as pawn shops, who just have you pull your mask down once and look up at a camera before shopping. If it's really just because of theft maybe you should do something like that. We're at a time where most people arent wearing masks anymore anyway, the ones who still do usually have a good reason. Do better or keep losing business.
Edited to respond As I said, other businesses have better ways to deal with theft so it seems like an excuse to push your views on people. Im not going to go into an establishment that makes me explain why I'm wearing a mask in a pandemic, and potentially be treated badly. After reading other reviews is why I decided not to go in, because you were rude to others.. it wasn't an assumption. Also the signs I was referring to weren't just the 2nd amendment ones, its the "tell your local representatives you want less restrictions" sign. As I said, start listening or lose business. I've been reading your responses and can see you are incredibly rude to customers and possibly racist. Do better and...
Read moreStopped in on whim. Greatest selection I have found in the area. Nice organized shop. Prices a little higher then I have found elsewhere. From what I gather, Husband and Wife ran business. The women at the counter was not engaging, honestly looked like she didn't want to be there, and was overall very unhappy. Didn't talk much, until after we paid and leaving, then it was all bye! come again! The women on the "sales" floor was much more engaging, and helpful in finding rocks, and answering some of my overly excited child's questions. My 8yr old child LOVES rocks, and was in absolute heaven in this store because of the vast selection. But because of special needs, wanted to see and touch everything, which I tried my best to keep from doing, as there are some very pricey items in the shop (and while trying to look for myself) but they seemed very annoyed at this and my child..Would not recommend this store for those with children to come to unless they are older and very well behaved. Overall, they all didn't seem like they wanted us there very much. Would I go back? Yes- simply because it has the best selection I have found, but if you go expecting good customer service, don't go. I was far more friendly and...
