I rarely leave reviews like this, but I feel compelled to share an unfortunate experience in hopes that it brings awareness and improvement.
My friends and I visited this winery as part of a girls’ trip. Upon arrival, the host greeted us and seated us. He made friendly conversation, asking where we had been previously. We struggled to recall the names of the other wineries, as we’re not from the area and were simply enjoying a relaxing day—but nothing out of the ordinary. We were then seated and greeted by our server, who explained the tasting options. We asked for a bit more time to review the wine list and went ahead and ordered appetizers, which were promptly served. We enjoyed our food and conversation while waiting to place our tasting orders.
An hour passed without anyone returning to our table. Eventually, a manager approached to check in. We expressed how much we enjoyed the appetizers and mentioned that we were still hoping to do a wine tasting. It was at this point the manager informed us that no one on staff felt comfortable serving us any more alcohol. Naturally, we were surprised and asked for more context, as we had simply been sitting and talking quietly among ourselves.
Unfortunately, we were given no clear explanation—only that “they didn’t feel comfortable.” When I calmly expressed concern about the lack of communication and transparency, the manager admitted he had not observed our table himself prior to approaching us and was unable to provide any specific details or reasons for this decision. When I sought to better understand the situation and asked for examples of any inappropriate behavior, none were offered. The tone of the conversation became dismissive, and we were told repeatedly that “they owed us no explanation.”
We ultimately chose to leave and later followed up with the manager by phone to again request some clarity—not to argue, but simply to understand what led to such a decision so that we could be more aware and respectful in future winery visits. Unfortunately, the call only further reinforced our disappointment, as the manager maintained that no further explanation would be given.
To be clear, our group was calm, respectful, and sober. Even our professional driver from Pinot Car expressed confusion and concern after hearing about what had happened. He assured us that we had done nothing to warrant this type of treatment and was as bewildered as we were.
This experience left us feeling hurt, confused, and unfortunately profiled. Our intention was never to create conflict—only to enjoy the day and understand what went wrong. Instead, we were met with defensiveness and a refusal to communicate, which was deeply disheartening.
I hope the winery takes this feedback seriously and reflects on how such situations are handled in the future. Guests deserve to be treated with respect, fairness, and transparency—especially when no inappropriate behavior...
Read moreMy wife and I took family visiting from out of town on a VIP walking tour with Greg at Domaine Willamette and it was nothing short of spectacular! The level of customer service that Greg provided us was beyond exceptional. He greeted us with a warm and friendly welcome, personalized our experience by using our names (he even had all our names printed on a welcome card!), and truly made us feel like we were VIPs. From the moment we met him, it was clear that Greg is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about wine and the history of the Willamette Valley. His enthusiasm is contagious, and his depth of knowledge about the region's winemaking history, grape varieties, and unique terroir truly enriched the experience.
Walking through the vineyards with Greg felt like stepping back in time. He shared fascinating stories about the origins of the Willamette Valley winery and how it has evolved over the years, offering insights that only a true expert could provide. His explanations about the vineyard's microclimates, soil types, and how they influence the grapes were captivating and gave us a newfound appreciation for the wine-making process.
The tour of the winery itself was equally impressive. Greg’s detailed explanations of the winemaking techniques, from grape harvesting to fermentation and aging, were both educational and engaging. His passion for the craft shone through in every aspect of the tour. It was evident that he has a profound understanding of not just the wine itself, but the entire journey from vine to glass.
The wine itself was also delicious and we went home with several bottles. My aunt prefers sweeter wines, and Greg was able to find a few wines for her to sample that weren’t even on the menu so that she could fully enjoy the tasting experience. That was unexpected and truly appreciated.
Overall, the VIP walking tour with Greg was an unforgettable experience. His knowledge, warmth, and passion for both wine and the rich history of the Willamette Valley made this tour stand out. We left with a deeper appreciation for the artistry behind winemaking and a genuine love for the region. Greg’s customer service should be used as a model. It’s rare these days to receive the level of service when someone goes above and beyond and that’s exactly what Greg did. If you're looking for an exceptional wine tour, Greg is the...
Read moreI have been to Domaine Willamette on three occasions. The first time, I went there while on a wine tour planned by a shuttle service and had a good time. The second time I went with a friend who is an owner and was taken care of by Greg and it was one of the best wine tasting experiences I have ever had (as someone who grew up in the Napa and goes wine tasting semi-frequently) . The experience with Greg was so fantastic that my fiancé and I ended up joining their monthly club so that we can enjoy Domaine Willamette whenever we like with the perks of being a club member.
On our most recent experience as members, we went to Domaine Willamette and received the VIP Walking Tour, which is complimentary for owners and monthly club members. Upon arrival, Greg was waiting for us with a welcome glass of champagne and took us to a private room where we could leave our items and bottles from other wineries we went to that day. Afterwards he took us downstairs to another beautiful private room with a massive projector live stream of the vineyard and showed us the art that was handpicked for the winery. While there, we were able to taste pours of the other sparkling wines they make while he explained the method used to make the wine. Next, we were taken into the wine cave before being led out into the vineyard to walk in the vines and around the rest of the property. Greg frequently stopped and took pictures of us in various spots. After our exploration of the estate, we returned to our private room where he asked us what wines we would like to taste and he brought in the ones we were interested in. At the end of the tour he took us out onto the patio where we had lunch and he picked wines specifically to match each of our courses. All of the wine and food was fantastic AND what truly makes this special is Greg’s attention to detail, strong knowledge, and desire to provide a special experience for the guests.
My fiancé and I plan to be members for years to come and I will always request Greg’s services when we visit. Thank...
