Sussex County Community College — Local services in Newton

DO NOT GO HERE. This is much less organized than your local highschool. Their website is prehistoric, takes an hour to pay your bill on line. If your a parent and you want to check out your childs schedule or pay the tuition, you have to go thru more security than walking into the White House. There is NO professionalism, the college is "run" by a BOARD made of individuals that don't even hold a 4 year degree, and have no more education in running a college than your local Burger King staff. If you want to transfer to a University, you should expect to loose thousands of dollars, as a real University would laugh at the classes at SCCC, and NO they will not count them as real college courses. Basically, Guidance is a mess, Bursars is a mess and your "professors" and the lowest quality educators in NJ. Its a shame this place has gone down hill, but I blame the Board, decision makers that cant run their own lives, their entire families that all have filed for personal bankruptcy, and then they expect to make decisions for a failing College. They could at least run financial backgrounds on the Board before they appoint them. If they cant run their own lives, how can they be made responsible to manage a financially unsound college. SCCC will be closed within the next 5 years due to their poor education quality...

Horrible student help financially!! They say that they offer help and that this community college is a cheap option but tuition costs are higher compared to other community colleges in or out of state. and they do not care about helping you.

The fasfa office flat out told me that the only way that they could help me out is if authorities have ever gotten involved in between me and my parents or child services were ever involved in my life.

Dear SCCC, I am sorry that my parents never abused me. Even getting a student loan through the college is more than difficult. Because of this I can only pay for your college out of pocket. This school is overrated, lacking in the ability to help students, and non-student focused. -1star

Bonus points. There is ZERO SCHOOL SPIRIT -1star ZERO COMMUNITY of any kind -1 star I cannot speak for everyone, but this place just makes you feel like a loser while people that get to go to university actually have a fun college experience, SCCC makes the whole idea of college dreadful. -1 star

Attending SCCC was the first step I decided to take after graduating high school. I knew from the start going straight into a 4 year college was not the right choice for me. I had a goal of taking prerequisites for a future Dental Hygiene program.
