There’s a lot of punch packed into this 6 mile round trip and 1,900 ft elevation gain hike. Old growth forest, steep sections, a pretty meadow and some minor rock scrambling (active dogs can easily manage. Well over half of the elevation gain is in the last mile and 40% in the last quarter mile. Portions of the trail can be a little muddy. Great views of Annette Lake, Snoqualmie Pass, Mt Rainier, Mt Adams and the Olympic Range (on a really clear day) and the I-90 corridor from the summit.
Please note there are stinging insect nest(s) at the summit, probably hornet and/or yellow jacket, so if you’re allergic or fearful of these you may want to stop short of the summit or consider a different trail.
