McKay's Front Porch — Local services in North Kingstown

We bought a 9-foot Galtech Sunbrella umbrella which cost $415 which was part of a nearly $5000 purchase at McKay's Front Porch and worked with Keith who is one of the owners. He is a very nice guy and spent a lot of time with us and was great through the purchase process. About two months later the umbrellas pole bent in a light breeze. I brought back and got a lot of attitude from one of the salesman when I complained about the bend in the pole. He told me they do not warranty poles for wind damage and went as far as saying that it was one of their cheap residential models and not commerical grade. He said they do bend and break in any wind conditions. WOW...that should have been disclosed at the time of sale as I would have spent the money for a for robust model. (We live in RI not far from the coast where we do have some wind) The overall attitude and dementor of the sales person was very disappointing. After arguing with him he gave me a new pole and told me that was my only freebie. His condescending attitude really bothered me, so I wrote an email that described what had happened to the general email box and didn't get a responce. I forwarded that email to Maureen McKay who I had worked with during the sales process and still no responce. I am writing this review for two reasons: 1) Post-sale experience with McKay was poor and apparently they don’t (normally) warranty their residential umbrellas and 2) they didn’t respond to my emails. Poor service on the post-sale side was my experience so cannot recommend and will not return. Try Lakeside Trading in Narragansett instead. Purchased a cantilevered umbrella. My sales person was one of the owners and after talking with them for sometime They convinced me that their attention to detail and personal attention was worth the extra money. Umbrella was delivered without a hitch to my door which I live in a different state but after attempting to install it there were pieces missing which I specifically ordered to mount to my deck. After calling and emailing the company two times I hadn’t heard any reply in two weeks after the two weeks I called and spoke to one of the other owners and he assured me he was going to get to the bottom of it needless to say it is now 2 1/2 months since last contact and no one has reached out to me and apologized for the screwup . Excellent store to shop in. Great selection of durable, outdoor furniture in a variety of styles that will accommodate small to large settings. Staff are very knowledge and offer great suggestions and service. I ended up getting quite a few items this summer to enjoy my backyard. Love my Adirondack chairs with (optional but soft) cushions, side tables (one I use as a footrest as it is a perfect height) and sunbrella...
