I want places like this to stick around, I really do. But they're going to keep disappearing if bare minimum investment of not even money, just time and interest, isn't made by the owners.
#1 thing that kills these places is closed vendors. When I come in on one of the two days the place is open and half the vendors are closed with tarps over their stores it makes me less likely to come back.
Additionally, when maybe a third that are open are full of, fell-off-the-truck toiletries and paper products I'm less likely to come back.
All of this in the end hurts the good vendors with interesting merchandise and who actually stay open both days.
I don't want to tell anyone not to go here, because I think there are good vendors there. I would suggest going once and if you find something you like gauge if its worth a second...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNo worse than usual. The Dirt Mall (TDM), as it is known locally, is certainly worth taking a look at. If your VHS recorder is on the fritz you'll want to try looking here before running off to the big box stores. Check out the butcher counter where the beef is so fresh you can still hear the sad echo of mooing. There are a number of gastronomic delights to choose from. While I have not personally eaten anything served at TDM apparently people do eat there and live to tell about it. During the warmer months you can visit the Dirt Mall Northern Annex. Here you'll find your annual flowers, local produce and of course the Schuylkill County favorites such as Guers Orange Drink, Twinkies and, if you're lucky, ring bologna. Visitors to the area should make sure to keep some weekend time free to check out Renninger's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is downright disgusting and should be shut down by the board of health. It smells and the bathrooms are very scummy. Ordered a sausage sandwich at one of the vendors stands. The guy blew his nose and never washed his hands before making my sandwich and never washed his hands. Needless to say I didn't take it. The Asian guy that replaces watches stabbed the inside of my watch while he was taking the back off. I watched him do it and he denied that he did it when I was standing right there. A $500 watch ruined. Reported to the owner and he never returned my call. Parking lot is like driving on the moon. And I can go on and on. It's just a pathetic Mess that needs to be power washed and repainted or just demolished. Actually, I would love to see a Wawa go there or a nice car lot that sells...
