We boarded our fur baby at the North Port/Wellen Park location for a week. Prior to boarding her we took her a couple of times for a half day of play time to get her acclimated. While our overall experience was OK there are some things I would want to know about before boarding there. We booked for boarding dates when we first went in to tour the facility and schedule the play dates. A few days before we were to drop her off I called to ask if we could change the drop off date to a day earlier because we were concerned a 7am drop off would put us behind. We were very fortunate that we did call because we were told they didnāt even have our reservation. Luckily the office manager, Jennifer, immediately helped me get the reservation scheduled and agreed to waive a late pick up fee if we happened to incur the expense. She was extremely helpful and committed to fixing the error. Most of the staff we reacted with are friendly and the amenities are very nice. There is a charge for administering medications each time the medication is given. I didnāt recall being made aware of that but itās very possible I missed it. Also, to use the cameras, there is an app you are required to download. The cost is only 1.99 for one month and part of the proceeds go to a charity that assists animals. I did observe our petās interactions throughout the day with staff and other dogs within the play group. I felt that some staff members were more interactive with the dogs while others didnāt seem to interact much at all. This was disappointing, particularly when you are paying extra for the play time. Something else to keep in mind is that other than the boarding fee, all other services are available āa la carteā so the cost can add up very quickly. When we picked our baby up and got her home we did notice she had several hot spots on her which she has never had before and did not have when we dropped her off. Iām unsure what caused these but my guess is probably anxiety since this was the first time sheās ever been boarded. It is concerning that no one at the resort mentioned these to me so I must assume no one even noticed but the spots are clearly visible and had noticeably bled so I donāt understand how this was missed and very disappointed no treatment was done while she was there. These spots can become infected very easily and should be addressed as soon as they are identified so this is a big miss on the part of Bayside. Hopefully this review will prompt the owner to ensure that the staff is interacting with the dogs and paying attention to any changes that occur while they are under their care. Was this an overall horrible experience! No. Is there room for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe boarded both our dogs for just a few nights in a shared suite. After getting home, we noticed Lucyās belly, paws and pits were very irritated including welts and scabs. The pit welt was raw and did bleed. She does suffer from allergies but this was not the condition we dropped her off in. She was probably anxious and out of her element and this likely heightened the irritation and her biting and scratching BUT I question the lack of treatment. If the dogs were checked on properly this should have been noticed. The one-on-one playtime person that we paid extra for should have noticed. We also paid extra for the Care Club understanding that something like this would be treated to avoid the worsened condition and infection. But I guess if itās not noticed it canāt be treated. At the VERY LEAST this should have been mentioned and brought to our attention at pick up ā especially given the fact that even if no-one else noticed throughout the stay it would have been blatantly obvious to the groomer that was also paid to bath the dogs before pick up.
There were no issues with our other dog.
I did send an email a few days later after Lucy was responding well to the medication and asked that management be made aware to ensure closer attention is paid and that it does not happen in the future. I did not hear back until I requested acknowledgement of the email a week later.
I decided to write the review as I am not confident after speaking to the very sweet front desk person that it was taken seriously. There was no communication from the general manager at all and itās a month later. Hopefully this will help implement some changes to improve...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe started bringing our boy Eli here maybe a few months ago. I really wanted to take my time before leaving a review, because our babies mean the world to all who are reading and contemplating where to go. I would not want to give a review unless I truly felt your babies would be happy and safe. That being said... We absolutely LOVE Bayside! They really love all the animals very much. From the small quieter ones to the large crazies, lol! Everyone there is kind and accommodating to all the dogs as well as their parents. The facility is very clean, all the boarding areas are well spread out and taken care of. Some have T.V.s, some you can watch your baby through cameras. I still cant get over walking through and it NOT smell dirty. They have an outdoor area with an in ground little pool that you can see from about every spot in there. My beeebbeee Eli is a little rambunctious 11 month old and I feel completely safe with him there. He is loved the moment we walk in. He is a little teenager and likes to pull and jump. I did a training session with Aja and WOW, what a difference. She is AWESOME and gave me some great tips and I feel like I can actually walk him instead of the other way around! š Eli is always excited and zonked out from playing when we get home. So, for anyone reading this, looking for a place to leave your baby, whether for daycare, training, boarding or whatever your needing.. This is the...
