Our Christmas Wish, Prayers for Shadow: Hello, my name is Shadow. Here is my story and how I came to this amazing new place called the Huron County Humane Society for a second chance at the life I deserve. I was all alone chained to an old enclosed truck trailer with only a dish of frozen water when one day I heard something. Three people I had never seen were walking towards me. I was nervous. The nice man and ladies said “don’t worry, we will get you somewhere warm and comfortable.” One of the nice ladies carried me to their warm car, and she is my favorite shelter mommy now. (Don’t tell my other shelter mom’s. I don’t want them to feel bad.) I am around 14 years old. My back legs do not hold me up. I must drag myself around by my front legs. However, I can still move my back legs and wag my tail to show everyone that I am excited to see them. I also have some age-related lumps and bumps and can’t see very well. They took me to a place called the vet’s office. They are working with the doctor to find out what is causing my leg issues and whether or not it will be reversible. I am currently on some medications to assist with my legs and pain. I am quite comfortable and being spoiled, rotten by my wonderful shelter family. I am enjoying resting on lots of thick cushions and a heated kennel floor. I have special non-slip reusable piddle pads that prevent me from slipping. While the shelter staff that cares for me are very dedicated to every animal that comes through the doors, they can not run on dedication alone. They are funded solely on donations from the generous public and a few grants. During the month of December, they are running their Double Dog Challenge. All donations made to the Double Dog Challenge up to $20,000 are matched. Every $1 you donate equals $2! Please consider donating to help them continue helping animals in need like me! Please go to the Huron County Humane Society Ohio fb page to donate. P.S. I am gladly accepting prayers and good vibes! UPDATE: Shadow took a trip to our dog park today! His right leg is definitely stronger than his left, but this fella can move!#huroncountyhumanesociety #norwalk #rescue #ohio #dog #Shadow

We recently had a cat dropped off. She obviously had been house cat & scrawny. My daughter took in and then came 2 kittens. My daughter has numerous lung issues & on oxygen and the cat fur& litter really made her worse so we tried to take to Huron co humane society. They totally refused them. They were full.Which I've now heard is what they tell all. My daughter was in car with her oxygen so they knew it wasn't just a story. We live on a farm and have had many cats dropped off. Even though Not ours we have always fed & taken care of them. Soo many we've lost count, but when we needed the so called humane society they couldn't have cared less about the circumstances!! No wonder all these cats just get dropped off all the time. There is Nothing humane about it! Since this issue others have told me anyone they know deals with Erie or Lorain co cause Huron co Always says they are full or just refuse to take. Wouldn't donate...

This place is a joke and the people running it! They lied told my children and I that there was no applications on a dog that we liked so we met her played with her fell in love with her. We were told to do an application and we would hear something Tuesday which was a lie I had to call them and was told Thursday they picked someone else. You should be ashamed of yourselves lying to children and family's. Obviously you people have not a clue of what your doing because if you did the poor dog wouldn't have came back! So your family picking skills aren't as Superior as you think! You automatically Racially profiled my husband because he's hispanic. I will be getting a lawyer involved. I feel bad for the animals at this place. Bunch of...

Just made a call here and spoke to the ALLEGED "humane agent", Chris. She was rude and remote in attitude. WHERE is the humanity in that?!? These organizations are NO longer what they used to be. Nobody cares anymore. Not for kids, and MOST CERTAINLY NOT FOR ANIMALS. And YET people have the nerve to wonder why folks are forced to resort to abandoning the pets they can no longer maintain (thanks to monetary squeezes by landlords, vets, and organizations like this one) when they are met with such disdain, uncaring, and absence...
