I started coming to Bayview as a kid, the mini putt course was awesome before I learned how to play actual golf. As an adult, the course was enjoyable because it was good value for the money and laid back. Available tee times were never an issue.
They’ve done a lot of work on the course lately and on the property as a whole over the years, but not much substantively has changed. Except the prices. The prices have noticeably increased, while the experience hasn’t. Granted, what these days hasn’t increased in price just due to…everything that is going on in the world.
What I took issue with on my latest visit was the confusing at best, disingenuous at worst pricing. I have never seen a business break out military pricing by resident/non-resident. On top of that, there is no explanation on what defines a resident from a non-resident. If you are military stationed here, are you only a resident if you have a Hawaii license?
Now to ding myself for not reading all the way through the pricing on the website, I didn’t even realize that there was a non-resident military rate so when I was expecting to pay $43 but was told $66 today, I was a bit surprised. When I asked question about that, I was met with 3 blank stares from each employee behind the desk. No offer of an explanation, no attempt to explain what would suffice (in terms of documents) what would qualify for the “resident military” rate.
Now full disclosure, some of you may say “well why didn’t you just show your Hawaii license?” which I would have if I hadn’t changed my license over to Texas while stationed there due to ease of access for updates, renewal, etc. I was born and raised in Hawaii and my family is here, in addition to owning my home here. I am now stationed overseas and home just for 2 weeks.
Should I have shown my birth certificate? My tax assessment from the C&C? While that sounds a little silly, I guess I could have. But I wasn’t gonna make a big stink over $23. What I would have appreciated is some engagement from the guys behind the counter, to work with me, ask some questions, or really anything besides the blank stares I got.
To me, Bayview is not worth the $66 I paid today. But the deciding factor for me was the lack of customer service. I won’t come back again at the price, and all I will say to those that are looking to play here is either have a Hawaii license to pay the resident rate or be prepared to pay prices which I think are too high for...

Our visit to the Bayview Night Market at Bayview Golf Park in Kāneʻohe was a night to remember! It was a planned family outing, but like any good adventure, it came with a little twist—don’t miss the Kāneʻohe exit off H3 like I did! Once you’re off the highway, it’s an easy drive into one of the most fun-filled markets on the Windward side.
We arrived just before 4:00 PM, as vendors were setting up. The air was full of promise—food tents, trucks, live music, and the hum of mini golf balls already bouncing across the greens. This place has it all: 18-hole miniature golf, a zip line, and wide-open grassy space to kick back and relax.
While my kids later enjoyed every minute of their mini golf round (which takes a good while to complete), we started our foodie journey by placing an order at Waialua BBQ. For just $20, we got 3 big skewers of our choice (we went with pork, teriyaki beef, and shrimp), two scoops of rice, and a basic side salad. The portion was perfect to share between me and the kids, and they even included utensils and napkins, which made eating on the go easy. We picked up three Cokes for about $7 from the outside bar to complete the meal.
While that was grilling, we grabbed two giant hot dogs from Krazy Dogs—a Chicago Dog and an L.A. Street Dog, each for $13. These were huge, all-beef, and packed with toppings. They even gave us forks, and once you take a bite, you’ll know why—they’re deliciously messy in the best way.
While my daughters continued playing golf, I stopped by Sugar Mami, a vendor serving fresh sugarcane drinks with tons of flavors. I went with the OG Sugarcane, served in a large cup with a big open straw. You can even get it in a reusable jar. It cost me $15, which was a bit on the pricey side, but totally worth it for a refreshing taste of Hawaii.
Between the variety of local food, family fun, and laid-back community vibe, this night market is the perfect spot to kick off your weekend (or make any evening feel like one).
Come hungry, bring the family, play some mini golf, and sip on local flavors—because in Hawaiʻi, every day is Friday.
Mahalo, Bayview Night Market!...
Read moreI played two rounds of golf last week around Christmas...both times for $10 but I had to start before 8:00 am. It was a great deal though if I wanted a cart, the price would have jumped to $50...still a great deal for golf in Hawaii. . My biggest complaint is that there was trash around the tee boxes and greens that was not being picked up. In fact, the same trash I saw my first day there was still there two days later. It makes me wonder if it was being ignored by the course caretakers or if it was because of the Christmas holiday. Still, there were employees not doing much around the course so I believe that the trash was being ignored. It is a simple fix but that will have to be a management issue. . That aside, it was a wonderful course to play golf. The front nine is flat and can be covered on foot...though watch your footing. The constant rains make the grass quite slippery. I fell twice (my fault) and permanently stained my clothes. I call it a badge of honor but still, be cautious. The back nine...with all the spectacular views of Kaneohe Bay...come with a price. That being that holes 12-16 are quite steep and will test your cardiac strength. If you walk the course, make certain that your life insurance is up to date. . The staff was very friendly and gave me advice on how to play the course. When they noticed the mud on my clothes, one of the employees gave me a towel to place on my car seat so that I would not stain my interior. . Lots of golf balls left on the course so if you run out, you are certain to find dozens along the way to replenish your supply. Golfers sure are lazy when it comes to retrieving their errant golf balls. . Bottom line: Great course to play on....great deal...wonderful staff...too much trash on the course...THOUGH I BLAME THE GOLFERS THAT ARE TOO LAZY TO PROPERLY DISPOSE OF THEIR TRASH IN THE FIRST PLACE. I only wish that the groundskeepers stayed...
