Hawaiian Turfgrass — Local services in Oʻahu

My first shipment of Captiva Grass (recommended for 3 hours of sun or less) to Young Brothers to Lanai didn't make it on time for the scheduled drop off, and I had already flown to Lanai to meet the shipment and was utterly disappointed to get a phone call from Sean, who apologized profusely, that the grass didn't make it on time(Young Brothers dropped the ball). Sean handled this mishap with professionalism and great customer service. He listened to me carefully and didn't argue or try to talk over me which is really important to always listen to the customer first (as I was pretty annoyed) and Sean respond positively. He discounted the grass of 300 Square feet to make up for the loss I had incurred for plane fare and misc. expense related to the shipment. A month later the grass was shipped and did make the sail the next go around. I am extremely satisfied with the choice of grass and how beautiful my yard looks. I will be placing another order in the next couple of weeks with Sean. He is very professional, funny and I can tell he loves what he does and honestly, the grass is the best. ...

My three grandchildren, all toddlers, wouldn’t play on the old lawn but now they run and play on the lawn recently installed by Hawaiian Turfgrass. I am so glad that I called Hawaiian Turfgrass. Sean promptly responded to my request for an estimate. He very patiently answered all our questions and was easy to talk to. He was very professional and his deep knowledge gave us assurance of the kind of work he would do. The estimate came in a couple of days and the work began a couple of weeks later. It took a while to kill the old grass but once the installation work began it took just two days to complete. I was really impressed with the crew. They were very courteous and efficient and kept us informed of what was going to be done. The lawn looks great and we are certainly enjoying it. We have been doing a lot of home improvement recently and working with Sean and his crew has been the least stressful and most pleasant of all the jobs we have had done so far. Thank you Sean...

Sean was helpful and very knowledgeable. There was small miscommunication on the delivery date, but Sean took care of it and re-delivered on the correct date. He definitely knows his grass and the quality in comparison to some other places was better.

Vincent, the driver is really nice and helpful as well. You could tell he is a hard worker.

However, the El Toro Zoysia Sod I purchased was not all entirely consistent. Some were nice and green, while others seemed a little dried out and slightly yellow.

Additionally, the thicknesses of the SOD varied as much as a 1-1/4" so expect your newly installed yard to have distinguishable elevation changes from SOD sheet to sheet. We rolled the yard with a steel drum lawn roller with over 35 gallons of water in it to mitigate drastic appearance of the SOD joints.
