Massey's produce — Local services in O’Fallon

As a long time employee at Kirkwood Farmers Market and produce manager at multiple grocery stores, take this review seriously... Massey’s is the worst produce market I’ve ever attended. Writing review after visiting on a Sunday (should be busiest day of week) Here’s why;

Peaches weren’t local (again) and California variety were all rock hard (very simple to ripen produce given MO summer weather) EVERY potato on display needed to be thrown away (green) Corn display was minuscule and awful when asking if there was more, “NO” was my answer. Empty displays while local tomatoes sat in boxes on a pallet.

These are popular summer items that are completely disregarded. Throw in the pathetic customer service and, BAM, you have the most overrated outdoor market...

Every time I go there, it gets a little more seedy. Went 2 days ago. Cantaloupe were 2 for 3$. Today, 4.99$ each. Lily's snowcones would definitely make more money and more people happy if they moved to another location. It's hard to get to, due to the flowers being in the way, and it apparently is tended by the produce staff so it's questionable as to the service. AND, living in the heart of Amish country, put the Amish moniker on something and tripling the price does not make out better. When asked (2 different people) where the tomatoes came from, Mexico or Florida, both gave the customary blank stare. So much for Amish tomatoes.... lol. No tomatoes in our area (150 miles) are ripe around May 25th, so done be...

We love shopping at Massey's because they have some of the best produce for the price that you'll find anywhere. There's a huge variety of fruits and vegetables as well as potted and hanging plants and other home landscaping accessories. We're glad there are two locations in O'Fallon but our favorite is the one on the service road just south of 364 and east of Bryan Road and N Highway.
