we just purchased a recliner, really happy with how it sits and feels..got it delivered, has a strong smell , we thought was mold. Called them, and he adamantly said there is no mold. Well there is something bad smelly, we moved it out of our living room, trying to figure out how to get the smell OUT, not covered, as he told us to Febreeze it . Would just have liked to have had it replaced, not just returned. No reason he could not exchange it, he said we absolutely could not return it. We don't smoke or have pets, and had it for 1 night, which we didn't sleep, because of the situation. We have purchased chairs before with never any kind of bad odor! WE need to figure something out, as it is , we cant use it. We called a Remediation Store in Greenville, and we asked them about how to fix it, said it would need cleaning, deordorizing and maybe ionizing. Should not have to go that route, when the chair is new.. furniture shed said its a new chair smell, NO IT IS NOT! We purchased a recliner there about 10 years ago, and it never had any smell to it. Our mattress is now giving way and I contacted Serta who advised it was still under warranty but I need a copy of the receipt. I contacted the store and talk to the owners wife and she said they have a copy of the receipt, but it s in their warehouse and she doesn t feel like getting it!!!!! Are you kidding me! The owner will not give me an exchange or a refund. Home Best Furnishings (the manufacturer) is also worthless in the customer service department. The manufacturers warranty means nothing here. In the past 25 yrs. we have purchased 6 other recliners here, NEVER AGAIN. Update: Chair is less than one year old and also makes a lot of noise when you rock in it.
