Union Point is roughly the 2/3 point of four mile trail, more close to the Glacier Point than the Yosemite Valley. The elevation at Union Point is 6332 feet, while the elevation of Glacier Point is 7200 feet.
For people who do not have the energy or the time to hike the full four mile trail ( which is total 9.6 mile round trip with over 3000 feet elevation), here is the scaled down version: Glacier Point to the Union Point trail. It is about 3.8 mile round trip with an elevation less than 1000 feet.
You can park your car at Glacier Point, hiking down all the way to Union Point, then come back. It takes rougly two hours for a moderate fit person to complete the whole jouney. This segment has the best view of the four mile trail. At union point and most part of the trail, you have the grand view of Sentinel Rock, Three brothers, El Captain, Upper Yosemite Falls, and Half Dome in the distance.
