We decided to go to the Oakley rodeo in the summer of 2025! Sounds like fun. Knowing the rodeo sold out quickly, it was decided a drive 50 miles to Oakley City Hall to purchase tickets was best, after-all, they were offered early to "locals" by walk-up only. Tickets had been on sale for 5 days, but no problem they will have them available, that's the point--right? We were duped. A big orange sign on the front door said it all. "Sold-Out"-how? Two nice ladies informed my that on the first sale day, autos wrapped around city hall, hours were spent selling tickets, with some purchasers hauling out 20, "families are big here", one lady said. After probing, I can assure you multiples of 20 tickets were sold to individual people for resale to the oligopolies of StubHub and VividSeats.
How can we avoid this in the future one lady asked? A good question? Isn't that what city councils are supposed to do, deliberate and resolve problems? Here are a couple starting points: Limit ticket sales to 6, perhaps by local Utah addresses, showing an ID can be a powerful disincentive to deceit. Perhaps a larger venue is now a viable alternative.
Don't worry though Mr, and Mrs. J.Q. Public, you can still purchase your Oakley Rodeo tickets for 2025! See the attachments. This will run your family of 4 only $1000, SORRY, don't forget about the hotdogs and drinks!
Unfortunately, I was unable to upload my pic of the big orange door sign, or the screen shots of Stubhub and VividSeats showing the above "deals" but I'm sure J.Q. Public an see those sights for themselves. I don't plan to spend any more time on the Oakley...
Read moreReview update 2023: while the performers and the animals remain amazing, it seems that sponsors and advertisements have increased dramatically. Constantly during the rodeo they are pushing the sponsors and waving their flags and logos. I didn't know I would get commercials during a live event. It kind of drops it down a bit.
