I had been wanting a mother’s/right hand ring since we knew we were done having children (about 12 years). I envisioned a swirly ring with the kids’ birthstones (citrine, garnet, & ruby) for a while. When Mom passed, I got her gold jewelry; most of which was broken in some way or another. On July 3, I traveled to Oakton, VA, to Louizos ELP Goldsmiths, Inc. with some ideas in mind. Alex, Louizos’ wife, recognized me right away. It had been 17 years since they made my engagement ring and wedding band. We talked about some ideas, and she presented me with a picture of what I had been fabricating in my head. I told her that there was one stipulation, the new ring would have to have some of Mom’s broken gold pieces melted down to be a part of it. My husband and I went down weeks later for my wax fitting. Even in wax, it was beautiful. Finally, I picked up my finished jewelry on Friday, Sept 18. I got there and Alex said, “Ok, here’s the deal, you will try it on, but you have to look away. Then, I am going to wrap it up and you can take it home.” Obviously, my husband had been up to something since we left the wax fitting. On Saturday, Sept 19, in the evening, we had a celebratory, impromptu dinner; I was able to open the box. The ring I was having made had polished gold around the stones. I opened the box and to my surprise, Chris added diamonds. This was just in time for our 16th wedding anniversary which was Sept 24. Now, I have a "true" mother's ring with a part of Mom, too. My husband wanted to buy me a mothers/grandmothers ring and we worked with Alex. She was the most amazing person and she took an interest in our family and went miles over what we would have expected from any salesperson. The ring was supposed to be a birthday present but we ordered it late and Alex made sure it got to me for my birthday. Bought my engagement ring from them. After going to places like Jared and other big name jewelers I walked into Louizos rather intimidated due to the car salesman like experience I had at all the other healers. Within minutes of walking in I felt cared for and not like I was just being sold to. Their custom peices say it all, and on top of that all of the employees took their time with me, answered all my questions, and were extremely helpful. Made the whole process amazing. After owning that ring they continue to impress me with their support and customer care.
