Ocean Shores Community Club — Local services in Ocean Shores

A crooked city with a crookedly run Community Club. Compulsory dues of $175 a year to every property owner (4 increases since I’ve lived here). The CC attorney has ensured every property and home has a lien on it (even if your dues are always paid in full and on time), where on the planet does this practice exist other than corrupt Ocean Shores. I own more than one property so I pay multiple membership dues, apparently my inanimate homes (not rentals or unauthorized AIRBNB’s) are the “members”. Seriously outdated gym equipment, old filthy, disgusting sauna (oh yeah, none of the sweaty old men shower after the sauna before jumping in the hot tub or pool), can’t speak for the women coming out of the sauna, but there are plenty of bone dry ones that get straight into the hot tub and pool. There’s no shortage of people with breath taking BO that jump straight into the water… Disgusting. Do a little research about the corruption history in this city. Nothing has changed, just a rotating cast of more of the same. The Community Club is poorly managed, preventative maintenance is near no existent and updating equipment only happens when necessary and is done sporadically. The gym equipment appears older than me and I have been retired for 5 years. They did finally get some cardio equipment but only after it could no longer be cobbled together every other day. By the state of the facilities and equipment I tend to believe most of the money goes directly into greedy peoples pockets. Don’t take my word for it, do your research. Oh and a majority of these reviews are by non-residents, non-members, and non payers. The club is often utilized by non paying general public and homeless people who use the showers and facilities. They are let in through side doors or walk past the desk while the employees are engaged in distracting personal conversations. I’ve been going here for a while and this is my review. The pool and/or hot tub are broken a lot. The fitness area is full of ancient equipment. There’s a few people in this area that are there to workout, but most are there to create problems that don’t exist and read you the rules they are breaking themselves all while being very rude while doing. Kathleen and her horde allow the maniacs over 50 to run this area like it’s a library. If you’re young that’s against the rules… Don’t make any noise or look in shape or you’ll be labeled “aggressive” and told to shut up. I’ve had threats made against me and was told that they have to touch you before that can do anything. Basketball court is fine. Café is a joke. This is what I’m made to pay for every year and be treated with disdain by members and told...

Not sure why Ocean Shores needs a Community Club. When we purchased property in the City I was not aware we would be FORCED to join the center. I guess I shouldn't say "join" because it is not something we did willingly. Upon purchase of property you are forced to enroll and pay yearly dues, weather you use the services or not. You are given no choice. Ocean Shores is NOT part of our United States and you have no freedom to choose. You will do as they say and follow their rules without exception and pay for the privilage. I understand it is very hard to unload, er sell your property in Ocean Shores because of having to be part of the Community Center.
