Me and the love of my life decidedly agreed to get Chinese for a late dinner. Since we were close to a great Restaurant in the Old Grove Center, we went for Pick up stiks. We has to make a stop at Ralph's Grocery store, so we phone in our order ahead of time. Saturday night the restaurant closes at 9pm. Pick-up Stiks would have our order ready in 5 minutes, WHAT? we asked them to hold the order and that we'd be in say 30 minutes. We got to the restaurant say 15 minutes to closing, our food was being prepared fresh, it wasn't the days leftovers, dry and you know. The chefs were cooking it. That spoke volumes about this establishment. It definitely valvues the customer, and even at this late hour the young people working there never once acted annoyed about us deciding to eat at a table, with the store about to close. See it was move-in week at our new house, no dishes, no glasses, no fun. Others now saw us eating, and came in to order, not one person was turned away, because of the fact they were closing. Wow I was watching and waiting for a reaction from someone behind the counter. It was business as usual. I went back up and thanked the staff for their kindness, explained that I wasn't going to be feed because of the movers hasn't delivered the frig. They all laughed and said good night. My orders were freshly prepared and tasted great. The restaurant was clean and bright, I was treated with respect and my order was correct and with no complaints. I have to give that visit a...
Read moreOld Grove Marketplace is a mish mash of eateries, small shops, a large supermarket & a home improvement store.
Definitely what anchors it are the Lowe's Home Improvement Store and Ralph's Supermarket.
Lowe's is handy at times, when you need something for the casa, cavernous, and this store is well stocked. Ralph's is a large supermarket, with a deli inside, which is nice, when you want fresh sliced lunchmeat. Their prices are on the high side, so we only buy a few items here. You can get good deals on their Value-Pak Meat.
Rather than Ralphs, I recommend WinCo Foods, at 2245 S. El Camino Real, in Oceanside. Shopping at this super food store will definitely make your food budget stretch farther, plus it'll bump up your daily step count. They have virtually everything here, too. Only downside with WinCo is they don't carry every single name brand.
For restaurants, there are a few I like here. Pick Up Sticks makes fresh to order Chinese-Style Food. I like the Combo Fried Rice, as well as the Orange Chicken. Pollos Maria is a small Mexican Restaurant which specializes in fresh grilled chicken dishes. They grill the chicken perfectly right inside. I like the 2 Chicken Tacos, with Rice and Beans Plate. McDonald's is also in the Marketplace, for when you want to grab something fast.
They also have a Starbucks, an ATT Store, a US Bank branch, a dry cleaning store, a nail salon, a tanning salon and a Shell Gas Station and accompanying mini market in this...
Read moreThis Location always busy! While moving, someone packed the coffee maker. . . Today was perfect timing; there was no line! Ordered- order was repeated and confirmed for accuracy! I even had a special request!!! Arrive at the window greeted by Beth paid, and my order was not up yet. So instead of the awkwardness, Beth engaged in Genuine Conversation asked about my day and plans. As she checks on my order, I looked in, and the Calm inside was terrific. I could see the line piling up. And the Baristas were rocking and rolling. Once my order was ready, I could hear the Echos of Happy Birthdays and whoever decorated the cup. We love it. Thank you
With someone on the window Like Beth, who makes you want to take a deep breath and relax! Thank you, Beth, for the encouragement on the move! Welcome to...
