Driver info. Heading south on summit ave the entrance is the first right(westbound) after delafield Rd. This location schedules appointments in large groups so all the trucks stopped on the shoulder and not the right turn lane ARE in line for check in! Keep the right turn lane clear so roundys/kroger company trucks can get through. There are 2 entrance lanes but the left lane is for company trucks & employees and right lane is for OTR. If you try to enter via the company lane you will be turned around and sent back out to the very end of the line. Stop at guard shack stop sign and take your bills and wait @ guard shack door for them to come out to you. They will give you a sign in sheet. Proceed straight ahead to the angled parking and find a spot to back in. Fill out the sign in sheet and take your bills and sheet to door 401, safety vest required. It is at the out-crop in the center of the building, on its east side, first door on left. In there you will get security checked for weapons then wait for some one to call you to a window to check in. Only 5 drivers are allowed in at a given time. Then go back and wait for a call for a dock or if given a dock then slide tandems and do not break seal OR open doors they do it from inside! They will call you for lumper fee and or to pull off dock and return to that angled parking area and they will call you when your bills are ready. Once you have your bills you must leave within 30 minutes. I arrived at 2030 for 2145 apt. Took until 2111 just to get to guard shack. Was assigned dock immediately upon check in. Unloading began @ 2227 finish unloading @ 0012....
Read moreThese guys are unbelievable! Everyone from the security gate workers to the shipping & receiving office staff to the lumpers are completely unmotivated to do their jobs. I arrived at the facility gate at 7:26pm to see a line of trucks backed up into the main road. It was so bad that the police were called to direct traffic in since the gate workers couldn’t efficiently process trucks coming in. The officer started directing over the road trucks parked into both entry lanes (normally OTR trucks use the right lane. Then, once I got to the gate, the officer had to start sending trucks the wrong way into the outbound lanes as well. The gate workers were clearly overwhelmed by the volume. Then, I got into the facility, parked my truck and was met by rude shipping/receiving office workers who acted as if they were being bothered by being asked to do their jobs by providing short responses to any questions or redirecting them to the lumpers who would then redirect the questions back the shipping and receiving. The lumpers were unprofessional, using profanity and one guy having a conversation about how he was hoping to get suspended from work. Finally, after arriving early and on time for my 8:00pm appointment, it took them until 2:30am the following morning to get my truck unloaded. The level of service these guys provided was very low. Avoid them at any cost unless you like having your...
Read moreI came to this place expecting a literal hell on Earth based on reading other drivers' reviews, however my experience was perfectly acceptable and left me with nothing to complain about.
My delivery was scheduled for midnight on the Monday night of Memorial Day. You're allowed to check in up to 4 hours early, so I showed up at about 2030. To my surprise, I was assigned a door right away. They started unloading my trailer about 30-45 minutes after I hit the dock. I took a little nap and was awakened by a phone call saying they were finished unloading at about 0030 and my lumper fee would be $199. Considering I had a full load of mixed product and they were finished unloading just 30 minutes after my appointment time, I was happy. As instructed, I moved my truck to the staging area and walked in to pick up my bills and pay the lumpers.
I never asked the staff if we're allowed to stay on the property to finish out a break once unloaded but other drivers told me it was allowed so that's what I did. Woke up at 0630 and rolled out of there. Nobody bothered me while I slept in the staging area. Maybe I just got lucky but based on my experience, delivering to this place was comparable to a Walmart DC except a little better because I was allowed to stay on the property to finish out my break. Best of luck to you and please be courteous to your fellow drivers...
