Where History Whispers Through the Trees
Springer’s Point isn’t just a place you visit—it’s a place you feel. As you step onto the winding paths, shaded by gnarled live oaks, the air seems heavier, thick with centuries of stories. This was the last place Blackbeard walked before his fateful final battle, and it’s as if the ground remembers.
The pirate cemetery, hidden among the trees, feels almost sacred. Weathered stones mark the resting places of men who lived and died by the sword. Nearby, the freshwater well—once a vital resource for sailors—still bubbles quietly, a lifeline from another time.
And then there’s the treasure. Legend says Blackbeard’s gold remains buried somewhere beneath these sands, guarded by the secrets of the Point. As you walk, every shadow underfoot feels like a hint, every twist in the trail a clue. The breeze carries a faint saltiness, and if you pause long enough, you might just hear the creak of an old ship or the distant echoes of pirate laughter.
Springer’s Point is haunting, beautiful, and alive with history. It’s not just a place to visit; it’s a place that stays with you, long after...

Golf carts aren't allowed on the street that you enter to get to Springer's point. There's no parking or golf carts allowed when you start on the path. There is a small hike, but it is really small. There are a few benches and seats along the way if you need it, but I really don't think you will. The trees give you shade and before you know it you'll reach the ocean and the breeze is absolutely amazing. Feel free to swim, as a lot of people do and even if you don't, the view is well worth it. It's also a great place to collect. Seashells and don't forget your camera because you'll definitely want it. I thought there would be a place marking or saying something about Blackbeard once we got there but there was not. But just knowing that it could have been one of the last places he was, was...

Parking is available at the assembly church, or the lighthouse parking lot (if there's room) otherwise, walking or biking (there's a bike rack at the trail entrance) The people that live there really don't appreciate people parking cars or golf carts in their yards. Sort of like you wouldn't appreciate the same in your yard or neighborhood. Be...
