Upon arrival, we were already planning on when we could go back. That was until we were racially discriminated against. On the phone the 2 employees at the shop were so kind and nice, that was until they saw us. we had to go register for our spots and their attitude changed immediately. I hate to say it's because we were Mexican but ultimately it got worse. I won't waste time with the smaller incidents but at one point we had the Male worker approach our campsite very aggressively and say, I got a lot of complaints about you guys and singing karaoke last night so you guys need to pack up and get out of here!!! He didn't once ask if we knew anything about the referenced noise. Not once did he try and ask the other campers if this was true or an issue. Had he done that he would have known we weren't the culprit of what we were accused of. It was not the first time we had been singled out by this guy either. It was just the first time that we literally felt like we needed to leave due to the discrimination. The campers who in fact caused the complained about noise went and let him know he wrongly accused the wrong group and it was them. as much as we greatly appreciated that gesture, we still felt very targeted. We would have appreciated that same guy to come back to our campsite and personally apologize face to face. he was very quick to come and confront us about things that were not us but was quiet once he found out he was wrong. It was very upsetting. We will never go back to that...

We returned this year after visiting last year and the experience was not very good. The quiet hours weren't enforced at all and there were many loud groups around us playing loud music and lighting fireworks. The store staff wasn't very friendly. I had reserved a full hook up site and was given a water and electric site only and told that the full hook up sites were full. Then I was informed that it would be $30 to have the holding tanks emptied. There is no room between sites so hopefully you'll like your neighbors. The tractors start running early in the morning and they are loud. Doesn't appear that the site's are cleaned in between guests as there was plenty of trash in our site when we arrived. If you are looking for a great place to go camping, put your boat in the lake, go swimming or fishing or just enjoy a quiet night under the stars, Vans camping and fishing in Brule Nebraska is a great place to go. Located on the south side of Lake Mac will offer you a better experience. The store will keep you supplied and the facilities are well maintained. The people are very friendly and understand your camping expectations. The price is a little higher than the north side but the higher quality is well worth it.
