Golden Spike Event Center — Local services in Ogden

Derby Mania 2024 the event was very entertaining and the kids loved it. But the big disappointment 😞 was no chili dogs or footlongs. The corn dogs one bite and the kids tossed them in the trash 🗑️. Soda was in 20 oz bottles and no ice so in five minutes very hot 🥵 and tasted like plastic. I bought nachos with sweet pork on top looked good but soon as I tasted it not sweet at all disgusting taste and nothing to chug it down but hot soda. I was expecting outstanding vendors like World famous corn dogs on a stick with the ❤️ on the yellow truck so was the kids and even hot dog vendors with footlongs and hotdogs and french fries and hamburgers. Not something like Korean Bologna. Bettos Burritos would have been better like Carniasada fries Burrito or Street tacos 🌮. Gotta remember if you're going to put on an awesome event food needs to be as awesome 😎👍 as the main event please and I prefer my Coke in a cup with ice please thanks. The kids loved the derby but we didn't stay for the last event we ran to get McDonald's we were starving and dieing of thirst from hot soda and water in plastic bottles. I would have spent more money on better food and better drinks just heads up if food made me happy 😁. Instead I didn't buy the kids souvenirs because the food didn't make Dad smile 😁 hello 🤗. Next time we will make sure cold drinks in the jeep and walk back and take an intermission to the cooler filled with ice water and drinks cold 🥶. I expected it to be as awesome quality as going to the 🐝 s game or watching the Utes stadium 🏟️. Disappointed 😞 but yes I had the best seat in the house just like at the Bee's game right in the center plate just like a king 👑😎♥️. One more complaint why was Canada's national anthem played I was 🤔 confused and our national anthem sounded like played on an old 8 track tape instead of a color guard and somebody actually singing in person so distorted....

The event center covers a lot of area and many events. In some cases such as the county fair, it may cover the carnival area, 4-H had a building setup with submissions, a stage was setup for other aspects, rodeo was going for some things, and their was an Auto-Derby Saturday night. Not to mention the mass parking issues and a group of people who were using the baseball fields when we arrived.

Surprisingly everything went smoothly, but parking access was slow. It took about 45 minutes to get parked. Also a word of caution, to get parking enter from the west side. If you come in from the east hoping to make a left, you will be surely disappointed. (I had never been there before and learned this the hard way.)

Still, even thought it was a slow process it was easy to navigate. The dividers and crowd control setups were easy to understand and work through. There were plenty of staff for the different events on-going but I did find that some things from one event could not be brought into other events. I know this will vary with different hosts activities so check their webpage.

All in all, it was a good visit. Great for families or individuals. Well managed. Again, review your event info ahead of time to stay on...

Weber County needs to get it together, horrible coordination this year for the derby. The guys that were working in the pits got screwed out of seeing the first heat their driver was driving in paid for seats, paid for pit passes, actually actively participating in putting on the show, couldn't get a number of people to their seats. Horrible coordination, just pathetic actually. Not pleased. This was not a Johnny Gullo issue, this was a weber County issue. However i never had this problem when Mike was promoting the derby. Probably won't be bringing a car to this event again. Maybe moving forward have an entrance to the stands just for pit crew members that bought seat tickets....
