Read moreI used my permit and hiked the relatively newly aquired Honeycomb Rocks trail today. Bravo!!! The trail is amazing! The Salt Peter Cave(s) are incredible but honestly the giant rock pillars and rock wall formations are stunning.
This is an intermittently challenging and moderate 2.2 mile loop trail with a trail spur to Paradise Point. This is in an Old Growth Forest loaded with ferns and moss. The trail is extremely well marked?!
As with all Nature Preserves, there are no restrooms and no pets allowed. This is absolutely the right call to limit the number of hikers.
After getting your permit, you will get exact directions (this is close to Clear Creek Metro Park in the northern Hocking Hills area) and you will be given your lock combination to open the gate to park. You will need the combination to get out, too. There are spots for just 6 cars so you get a map on how to make sure everyone gets space.
Bravo to ALL who made this land aquisition happen and to those who...

No fee for entry, but they ask you to stay on the path (which is understandable and...
