Firestick Pottery Studio — Local services in Ojai

I'm reviewing this after taking 4 classes and using up 16 hours of access to the studio and equipment. I loved the deal that I purchased for only $160 plus an opportunity to get to know other people who are into pottery. The part that was really disappointing was lack of interest in teaching by two male instructions who work there. They spend 5-10 min with the students but then they leave to proceed with their own activities. That's not teaching. In order for someone to attempt to learn at that place, they need to come in to practice and ask other members for help. That to me was a good starting point. I'm glad I discovered the place and met the people I met. For actually learning how to make pottery, to me this place did not meet my expectations or teaching standards, but it helped me begin my pottery journey. Robin was a splendid guide and host as I tried my naive hand at the wheel. There were other enthusiastic wheel hounds pushing out lovely products and with enthusiastic support from Robin during my time plucking away at a few bowl pieces. I live in another state, was visiting for a week and didn't have time to stay for the finished product, but communicated what I wanted and Robin really delivered! The bowls were shipped to Oregon in perfect shape, and I was tickled to see the color blends and organic nature of each piece. I wholeheartedly recommend anyone who wants not only to learn, as well as be given the space to really explore hands on clay work. We had a great time at Firestick! Really talented staff and awesome to see the advanced work that they have on display and for sale as inspiration before the class. They were very hands on and helpful. Took the class with my six-year old who had a great time and loved learning about the pottery wheel. We used the option for staff to finish the pots and glaze them, and then they were shipped to us.
