UPDATE Upon returning to Holiday Lanes for league night to support my friends on 7/5/21, I was approached by a man that was using my name (first and last) that I didn’t know. He asked to speak with me. I said no. He asked why, I told him it was because I didn’t know him. He proceeds to introduce himself as the supposed owner and that he wanted to speak with me regarding my negative review. I declined once again because I don’t walk off with strangers. Sorry not sorry 🤷🏼♀️
Unfortunately that wasn’t the answer he wanted. So he starts to confront me about my review right there, saying it wasn’t detailed enough. I told him my review was very detailed. It included names, occurrences and a date. He started to stand saying that it wasn’t detailed enough and that he’s tired of hearing about these issues with his staff. Stating that I was disrespectful to the staff when I was inquiring about the rules that were being imposed on me. (see original review). Because I wouldn’t comply with walking away with him to talk and not agreeing with his interpretation of my review, I was called disrespectful. I told him that I’m not being disrespectful just because I wasn’t doing and saying what he wanted.
At this point his voice is raised. He then told me that I must just be a confrontational person and that he has cameras and could show it. Ok. I had remained seated during this entire exchange. He then started gathering staff, league reps and other patrons to discuss whether or not I was worthy of staying or not. I told him that there was no need for that because I was leaving. So I gathered my things and left the building and premises immediately.
My friends however stayed behind. The supposed owner did in fact gather those other people around and continued to speak about me. My friends pointed out that you can’t talk to people like that. He replied, I own this place I can say and treat people however I like. He is absolutely correct about that. But that is not an establishment that I would choose to be a patron due to this unsettling encounter.
I felt disrespected and purposely embarrassed. I stand by this and my initial review. My experience was so unsettling that I left shaking. All of this is based on my very personal experience and opinion of what occurred. I am updating this review because I feel like it is very important that I do, so that others can make well rounded decisions as to whether or not this is the place for them and their family to give their patronage.
ORIGINAL REVIEWAvid bowler here and unfortunately I've had several bad experiences during league nights on Monday's. Sarah and Kerri with the league are extremely rude and condescending. They apply league and alley rules whenever, to whomever, however they see fit. After reading the league rules I noticed that many rules aren't being enforced. Such as no gambling and no profanity. Just the rules that they personally decide to and to whom they decide to. Like where non league bowlers are to sit or not to sit. Which by the way, I did not read about in 100 page league rule book. My friends are in the league and I attend to cheer. Yet I get rudely spoken to each week and I'm not even a member. Member or not, that is simply not how you conduct business. The front desk girl on 6/28/21 was also rude. She asked one of my friends for his weekly dues while he was in the middle of his first game. He said that he needed to visit the atm and that he couldn't because he was in the middle of a game and that he would try and get over to the atm in between games. She rolled her eyes and said ok. No more than 15 mins later she comes back, stares him down and snatched up the due envelope. So unfortunately the dues went unpaid this week. Isn't this a bowling alley? Isn't this supposed to be fun? Asking for myself and...
Read moreIn the beginning of September, I booked an event with Holiday Lanes Bowling Center for a church event for September 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM. I called in to book the event and spoke to a representative, and I was told that there was a tournament on the same day. I was told that the tournament would be over before 1 PM. So, I went ahead and book for that day for 60 people at the rate of $7 a child for two games and shoe rental. As the date approached, I went to the bowling alley on September 28, 2019 to talk to the management to make sure everything was alright before the event. Everything seemed alright. So, I didn’t think much about it.
On the day of the event, I received a call from the bowling alley at 10:23 AM. I was informed that the tournament that was scheduled on the same day was running late and was asked if we could push back until 2:30 PM. As someone who plays in tournaments for sports and games, I understand that tournaments can go longer than expected and I agreed to have my group come at 2:30 PM. Upon arrival, we saw a paper on the door that stated there wouldn’t be lanes open until 5:00 PM. Assuming that the sign was because our group had the venue booked, I brushed it off as I walked in. To my dismay, I was informed the tournament that they had planned was still running behind with the players having three games left, and the lanes wouldn’t be available to us until 4:30 PM. Our whole outing was scheduled until around 4:30, when the kids would be picked up by their parents. This caused panic with those who planned event, myself included. We weren’t sure what to do. The event, that these kids were looking forward to, was in shambles. As we left the venue to take our kids to do something else, I struggled to comprehend how this could have happened. We continued with our outing at a different venue. Thankfully, this venue was able to take us in on a last minute notice.
The next day, September 30, 2019 at 2:53 PM, I receive a call for this establishment. They apologized for the incident that transpired and offered to give us a special for half off every child, $3.50 per child for the next time we come. The representative I spoke with told me that the tournament they held that day was supposed to start at 8:00 AM, but it didn’t start until 10:00 AM. I accepted their apology, but there is no way that we will be returning to the location for any event. What I failed to understand is, how can you have a tournament run two hours late and drag on that much longer than expected? I’ve played in many tournaments for different games and sports before. In every instance I’ve played, if you are not at your station, table, or field by the time the tournament starts, you are disqualified. It doesn't make sense to me how this situation could have happened, but by the looks of the events, I can see how they can have a bias toward a certain clientele.
To conclude, this is a cautionary tale for groups that are looking to book at this bowling alley. I suggest you look for a different venue. You will be put second to their tournament clientele. I don’t want this to happen to another group in the future. I can’t speak on behalf of a smaller groups experience, but with our group of around 50-60 people, I’ve never had to deal with this amount of stress booking an event at any venue. If there was a zero star option, that would have been my...
Read moreHad my son’s bday here on a Saturday at noon. They open at noon & I was told someone’s there 30 min prior to let bday parties in. Doors weren’t unlocked til around 12:05 and nobody would let me in early with my hands full of cake/gifts standing at the door struggling. Maybe my expectations were high, but we had to set our own bday table. Nobody came to check on us. Got drinks well after our pizza….I had to ask the Q’s bc they weren’t informative at all…. Stood at counter waiting on lady to help me for around 15 min, missing out on bday fun to order my party pizza… she told me she just turned the oven on so it would be a bit. The party agreed the pizza is likely Digorno that they threw some tomato’s on top to make it look like they made it. Atleast Digorno tastes good…. I had to ask for my own refills on pitchers, which cost extra btw!!! I had a horrible time getting ahold of them to set up the party to begin with. That should have been my red flag. Won’t party here again. The kids had a great time, as they didn’t realize the struggles we went thru, so 2-stars for that, but...
