I was at the last NHRA event before they closed the Raceway Park dragstrip, one of the best days of my life with friends, got Courtney Forces sig(which is framed in my garage, see attached pic) and saw the Force Fam, plus I met Reme from Unique Whips(big fan of his work) way back in the day at a strip event+swap meet(those are pretty much the most famous ppl I've ever met and it was at Raceway Park), too bad that'll never happen again and now Atco dragstrip is closed soo Somebody please open a dragstrip in the Tri-state area, your gonna make dough, I would if I could, maybe someday. I dunno why the family that owns Englishtown Raceway shutdown the strip but I guess they have their reasons, it just happened very unexpectedly. First the whole strip was turned into a parking lot, now it's a go-kart track? Psh, how can the outdoor Raceway Park go kart track compete with the new indoor one in Edison(my hometown) aside from the fact they have gas go-karts and the ones in Edison are electric(obv I prefer gas but electric has its benefits too). I'll prolly never go back to Raceway park and I'm farrr from the only one and that's very sad. The dragstrip is still there, turn it back Onn geeeez lol and put your go-karts back in the parking lot track where they belong. I've always wanted to run my cars at the Raceway Park strip since b4 I was 17 now I'm 35 and they closed the dragstrip like 5 yrs ago now. PALLLLEEEEEEEZZZ turn the dragstrip back on, it will help with swap meets and everything and it looks like most of the infrastructure is still there on Google...
Read moreMy golly! Just passed the class yesterday! (Why am I sore 🤦♂️ in places I didn’t know existed on a human body?!?!?). I was wee bit nervous initially because I haven’t rode motorcycles since an old dirtbiking face injury years ago-don’t worry for all of you on google publicly wondering my face is still quite above average looking 💪. Now to the nit and a little bit of grit you are all teething to hear 😮 Very glad to have had Lauren and Walt as my instructors. They were both easy-going yet tough on us when we really needed to understand how to safely ride a motorcycle. They promoted safety and camaraderie among members of our class which made the two day course and evaluation less nerve-racking, more informational, and generally just fun(which if life isn’t fun it just isn’t worth living… i think Gandhi said that 😎). Definitely looking forward to riding soon with some of my chill classmates but very solid chance we’ll just forget we all exist. Would definitely recommend the course to any friends and family. Only complaint is Lauren being unaware of debatably the worlds most influential figure of this century ☹️...
Read moreI spent many years enjoying myself at what used to be known as "Raceway Park" (I can still hear that old radio commercial in my head). As a Jersey Girl born and bred, I always looked forward to "NHRA Summer Nats", as well as watching friends in younger days then others take their best at the 1/8 or 1/4 mile straight! I moved away to a small northern New England state 25 years ago, and it hurt to hear that they closed down the strip. I heard it was due to noise complaints from people who had built and bought homes that were obviously close to the track!! Seriously though, the track was there FIRST!!! Personally, I love the smell of racefuel, and nitromethane in particular! I also thoroughly enjoy the sound and feeling of a car as it speeds down the track at 300 mph. Obviously, the new neighbors have more money than brains. They could have insulated their homes better, and just dealt with it. At least I have a drag strip just a little over an hour and a half away from where I currently reside. Thanks for all the wonderful memories "Raceway Park", you may be gone; but I'll never forget...
