This place surprised me with the care and attention given by the staff. A housekeeper overhead me mention that I wanted headphones, she walked from across the room and gave me hers. I've seen the staff on multiple occasions do unsolicited gestures to make the residents happy. If you have a family emergency, you'll get a ride. If you need any clothes, or common items, they'll bring theirs from home or find it at a thrift store. You don't need to ask. If they see that you're in need, they attend to it. Even if they know that you like something, like horses, or cats, you'll be gifted with decorative items with that theme. One lady often gets her hair beautifully braided by by the staff. One nurse got me a CD player for no reason other than she saw it at a yard sale. The physical therapist took me on a walk (for therapy) into town to get cables for it. The head housekeeper is always finding dressers, in-tables, and shelves to keep residents rooms organized. If you want a particular item, they'll go shopping for it when they go to a bigger town. The kitchen staff remember your preferences as well as your doctor's orders. I could go on. You get the idea. They do far more than is required and do it happily. As far as medical care goes... The staff have keen eyes that catch of you're not "right". (I personally hate showing it, if I'm not well.) They know for what to look. There is never a long wait to see a doctor. (The hospital is only a few blocks away.) They are quick to memorize everyone's conditions and heath requirements. They are good at sharing any health information. If I have a headache in the morning everyone on staff at midnight will know about it. I'll be asked about it the next morning. The staff are very friendly. They get to know you. They talk to you and tell about their day-to-day. Everybody knows everybody here if you like people. Me, I prefer space. They oblige me. Still, they won over my want to be a curmudgeon. In summation, they have a lot of thankless responsibilities. But, they do them not only well, they exel and do it with hospitality. Were I a philanthropist, I'd fund this place enough to give them all well deserved...
