Gitche Gumee Landing Gift Shop — Local services in Ontonagon Township

I recently went into this store with my two children to find a gift for my husband for our 10th anniversary. My children are ages 6 and 8. I made sure they stayed close and reminded them not to touch anything and explained that a lot of the stuff in there was fragile. They were very excited to see all the neat rocks etc. So of course being excited about finding their dad a gift and seeing lots of neat things they did touch some things, but I was there to remind them not too. The woman working at the store was so INCREDIBLY RUDE to my children!!!!!! The first time she said something I let it role off my back and continued to shop and figured she was probably just nervous about something getting broke, which is completely understandable. But the second time was completely unnecessary. At that moment I told my children we were leaving. Which was very unfortunate because I was planning on making some purchases. I have close family I’m Ontonagon and visit regularly. Due to this experience I will no longer be shopping and Gitcha Gumee Landing and will NOT be recommending it. If I could give this store 0 stars I would. The lady behind the counter was incredibly rude. We had our two children. Our 3 year old which we took out anyways cuz he had to use the bathroom. And our 6 year old who is extremely well mannered. She was glaring at my daughter the whole time we were in there. My daughter loves the rock so she was extremely excited to look at them. And show me the different ones. It got to the point where she was glaring at us so much while we were looking at The rocks in front of counter I started moving away. My daughter found a globe that she thought was the coolest and was pointing in the air at where the ice was located and the lady screamed at her not to touch it. At that point I stated she wasnt touching it only point and the lady said well its 400.00 so. After that I said that's enough and walked out. I couldnt believe how incredibly rude she was. I will never reccomend that gift shop to anyone. So...

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! Worst place I have ever been to. My nephew(1) and daughter(3) were being looked at every second from the woman behind the counter. Every single move we made she was watching us. We were mostly by the puppets, books, magnets, and bear figurines- so not even by the expensive items in the store. She came up to me and asked “are you watching him?” As I stood right next to him. I have never felt so disrespected and looked down on from simply bringing children into a store.
