We had a blast stopping in, we stretched our legs along the nature walk and enjoyed seeing local wildlife. Lots of animals appeared along the walk. Kiddos were most excited for the baby gator. Inside had lots of maps and info guides for things to do while in Texas. Kiddos got a picture with the giant star. Overall great stop on a road trip.

Free to stop, really clean toilets, lots of leaflets with info on places to see and things to do. Comfy rocking seats, and the centre is on a swamp with lots of walkways outside. Only animals we seen however was a statue of a turtle and a stuffed shark! Best place to stop for a picture of the sign though.

11/30 Thurs. I write because on 11/28 at 8PM, I saw a young cat, maybe 8 or 9 months old, outside begging for food. I think someone dropped kittie off and left it outside...I tried to capture but it wouldn't let me get close enough. It is not a feral because it's sweet and would let me get within 5 feet. I gave kittie some wet dog food I had for my dog but then I had to leave.

I am worried about that kittie...can someone help? I'll be calling Orange county animal control again to ask they save the kittie...

Someone just dumped their cat at rest stop...

This is such a sweet place to stop and relax and stretch your legs. The lobby has great a/c and lots of literature for each region of texas + very friendly and helpful staff. The boardwalk is so beautiful and relaxing. There are lots of spots to sit and experience nature. I stopped by on a July afternoon and it is HOT and there’s no shade (so bring a sunhat, spf, and water if you wanna chill for an extended period of time). Note that as of July 7, 2025 there are no restrooms. It’s a lovely place to take a nice...
