Mount Constitution — Local services in Orcas Island

We parked at Mountain Lake parking lot and approached the Mount Constitution hike from Twin Lakes first instead of Little Summit. the beginning of the hike is easy but once you get about 2.5 miles in it is pretty much switchbacks from there to the top for over a mile. The view from the top was pretty, but somewhat busy since cars are allowed to drive to the top as well. The way down was easier and we made a detour to also see little summit. Short walk to the viewpoint from the parking lot. Has a beautiful view of everything around including the mountain ranges all around. There is a tower with a couple displays and a viewpoint for an even taller view. There are picnic tables around for resting or if you wanted to take lunch or whatever up there. Climbing Mt. Constitution with a bike. This is a great ride for climbers. Total distance from the ferry dock to the top of Mt. Constitution and back to the ferry is 37 miles, total climb is 3,492 feet. It's a hard climb, some sections are very steep. I am not a very strong climber, but I did the ride in 3 hours.
