If you're seeking an immersive, educational, and awe-inspiring outdoor experience in Florida, look no further than kayaking with Todd in Fort Pierce. This isn't your average paddle through the mangrovesāit's a guided exploration led by someone who deeply understands and reveres the ecological and historical complexity of Floridaās Indian River Lagoon and surrounding estuarine environments.
From the moment we set off, Toddās expertise was apparent. With a calm, confident presence and a deep well of knowledge, he provided not just safety and logistical guidance, but also contextual depth that elevated the entire experience. His insights into the regionās marine biology, birdlife, hydrology, and even the anthropological history of the area transformed a recreational activity into an informal seminar on the interconnectedness of natural systems.
The route Todd selected was ideal: a balance of serene waterways, mangrove tunnels, and open lagoon vistas. The water was glassy and clear, teeming with lifeāmanatees, rays, and countless species of shorebirds made appearances. Toddās ability to identify and explain everything from mangrove propagation strategies to osprey nesting behavior added rich layers to the journey.
Equally notable is Todd's commitment to environmental stewardship. He gently educated us on responsible kayaking practices, conservation efforts in the lagoon, and the ecological pressures facing the region. His respect for the local ecosystems was both inspiring and infectious.
Logistically, everything was smooth. The gear was clean and in excellent condition. Safety protocols were explained with clarity and professionalism. Todd was responsive to individual paddling abilities and tailored the pace accordingly, making it an inclusive experience for all levels of kayakers.
In sum, kayaking with Todd in Fort Pierce is more than a tourāitās a thoughtful, engaging journey led by a guide whose intelligence, humility, and passion set a new bar for eco-tourism. Whether you're a curious traveler, an amateur naturalist, or a seasoned adventurer, this experience will leave you with both memories and knowledge that endure long after the paddle...

This tour exceeded our expectations! We moved to South Florida in June and had family come visit this weekend. I stumbled across Get Up And Go- Fort Pierce and it sounded like fun!
I decided to book the glow in the dark tour. Unfortunately the weather had different plans and the wind/rain required the tour to be cancelled that night. Charlie was so quick to get us rebooked two nights later (our choice of date) and make everything right. They really care about their customers!
Todd was our guide and boy, he was great! We loved his knowledge and really appreciated how he didnāt make us feel rushed and we truly enjoyed ourselves with him.
The tour itself is leisurely and not strenuous. The mangroves are stunning. We saw plenty of wildlife. Upside down jellyfish, sea stars, screecher owls and more! Todd was so knowledgeable and gentle and kind to the animals he showed usā¦he was respectful to the wildlife for sure.
All in all, we are wanting to book a day tour next and will be planning on taking all of our guests on a glow in the dark tour with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked a clear kayak tour. Brian, our guide, was awesome. He gave us lots of information and was humorous. We saw a lot of wildlife and he was knowledgeable about all of it. Had we known the water was too murky to see anything, we would have booked a regular tour, because the clear kayaks had somewhat fragile rudders on them and were just harder to maneuver in general. Had we had the advantage of seeing the bottom, that might have been ok to put up with. Also, the water was very shallow in parts, so if you have a combined weight of around 380 lbs or more, you drag. I had to get out in the brackish water and drag our kayak past those low parts. I have dragged canoes and kayaks many times before, so not a big deal, but if you don't want to do that, ask if the water is low. If you are used to "float trips" on rivers, that's not this. You will be paddling most of the two hours. We had fun and that is mostly due to Brian....
