My family and I will never step foot into this DG ever again. My husband was spending about $30 a week there on snacks for work and I suggested to him that he goes on Saturdays since there is a $5 off coupon on Saturdays if you spend over $25.
The first time he did this, it appeared that the coupon did not work so I went back into the store to inquire about it. The first cashier had no idea how to handle this so he had a manager come talk to me. A "manager" (white male, don't know his name) told me that the system hasn't been working lately for that coupon. He said he's had a few others that day that also did not work. He was very nice and professional and issued me a $5 refund. He specifically told me that when the system accepts that coupon, we will see it reflect on our receipt in the form of the receipt saying "coupon" and specifically indicating there is exactly $5 off. He also specifically told me that the "store discounts" on the receipts have nothing to do with the Saturday $5 off coupon. He said that those are just regular discounts due to store sales, etc.
Fast forward to the next Saturday. My husband went back in there to do his weekly shopping and yet again it did not appear that the $5 off worked. Per the "manager" the week before, there was no coupon indicated on the receipt and there was no verbiage about a specific $5 off on the receipt either. When my husband asked the cashier (the cashier who is on "work release") about this, she was very unprofessional, demeaning, and insinuated that we were trying to pull some sort of scam for $5 bucks. She actually called the COPS! The situation escalated to a point where it didn't need to. There are so many better ways she could have handled the situation, including taking my husband's name and number and having a manager contact him later (apparently there was no manager there that day).
I contacted the store a couple days later to place a complaint about the situation, and spoke to a woman identifying herself as the manager. She acknowledged that we were misinformed by the other "manager" who issued me the refund the week before. Had her employees been properly trained, especially her other manager, this entire situation would have been avoided. It was due to his misinformation that caused this entire situation. She also acknowledged that the situation by the cashier was not handled in the best way.
Despite her apology, we will not be going back. We will be purchasing all of these same items from Sam's Club. Not only is it cheaper, but it gets delivered for free with our membership and we don't have to deal with a cluttered store, long lines, and disrespecful employees who aren't trained properly and giving customers conflicting...
Read moreI wish I could give this place a negative star worst customer service I have ever experienced. The worker watched us walk to the register then continued to talk and as she was standing with the door open wind blew trash off the full trash can then said "Are you going to pick" then I responded "what?" Then she proceeds to say, "you threw a receipt on the ground!" So I respond " no, the wind blew it off the trash can." Then she proceeds to have attitude with us the whole time. She's checking us out and said, "I thought...
Read moreI did not hate this store. It is a small store trying to accommodate a large number of customers. Merchandise is more or less packed into tight spaces. My opinion of the store & the employee encountered is that both were straining to accommodate a varied clientele. If give them both a lot of praise for the effort...
