Save A Lot — Local services in Overland

Save A lot has some of the lowest prices on food anywhere, but they don't always have all of the brand name goods that all of the other grocery stores have !! And the only thing that I personally don't like is that they don't have bags for your groceries !! You have to bring your own bags!! They do usely have a bin full of boxes that they save when they unpack there delivery's but they don't always have them so you might want to bring your own bags !! I do believe that they sell bags at the checkout line, but by the time you buy bags there goes your savings !! Lol that and make sure that you have a couple of quarters on you because they charge you a quarter a piece to use there grocery carts !! Lol but you do get your quarter's back when you are done if you put your cart back !! I have always enjoyed shopping at this location since it opened. I went on this Sunday night to get my grandaughter waffles and bacon that she requested for Monday morning breakfast. Figured it was so much easier to fill the request than to deal with a rough morning. When I arrived at the store which is about half a mile from my house the doors were locked. The security just set and looked at me.I call into the store and asked why they weren't open and was told that they close at 8 on Sundays. I knew that wasn't true. I just went to the location off of Midland that I just recently started shopping at also that I know closes at 9pm. I still rate them at a 5 because that's the first time I felt disappointed. Good for quick shopping visits. They have all the essentials, laid out in a sensible manner. I think the basic idea here is that you are sacrificing a wide selection in favor of a small, easy to navigate store and low prices. Save-A-Lot is comparable to Aldi's in that they have low prices (some in store brands mixed with deals on name brands), the big difference being the size of the stores (Save-A-Lots are generally smaller than Aldi's) and the consistency of what they carry (Save-A-Lot is more likely to have the same items day-in-and-day-out whereas whatever Aldi's has seems to vary every time I go in the store, probably based on whatever closeout deals they have recently come across).
