Ben Hawes Municipal Golf Course — Local services in Owensboro

Let me start by saying I have been playing Golf for 30 years and I am currently a 3 handicap. I have played courses all along the east coast over this time. My daughter has a state tournament this weekend here in Owensboro. While in the area I decided to play a round at Ben Hawes this evening. The staff made this an experience of a lifetime. We were welcomed and treated spectacularly. The course is one of the finest municipal courses I have ever played. Ranger was on point. Greens were a bit slow for my liking but were in excellent condition. I live almost 4 hours away and would make the trip just to play here for the experience alone. Pulled up and there was literally 10 cars in the parking lot. They sent me away because I didn't have a tee time. I play once or twice a week so I understand golf etiquette. You should get a tee time, however the course was dead. Nobody was on the first 2 holes, and a big group was at the driving range.
